Copic (£££) markers for an 11 year old?

I’m looking for some opinions and recommendations on Copic brush markers for my (nearly) 11 year old. DD is an avid artist, paints and creates daily and has enough of a talent that she has sold a couple of paintings and is producing art to sell at an upcoming Christmas fayre.

She has mentioned putting the Copic pens on her Santa list, they are obviously very expensive and I’m wondering if they are actually worth the money or if there are better alternatives out there.

If they are indeed worth their price tag are there any suggestions as to what to get?

TIA

No recommendations sorry but they have their black friday offers on their webpage currently. If she is good enough to be selling stuff and to name a brand she particularly wants I'd try and see what you could get that are in budget

I got some dupes
From Amazon for Dts last year that still weren't particularly cheap, ended up replacing them with the Coptic ones.

Copics are definitely the best. The cheaper alcohol markers don't have the same colour saturation and the nibs aren't as good. I've got Copics that have lasted years and the other brands have long since dried up.
The main problem is that to get proper shading you can't just buy eg a red Copic, ideally you need the red that sits either side of it too, otherwise you're not using them to full effect.

Copics are excellent, I personally use Windsor Newtons Promarkers though as they are far cheaper and still excellent. I haven't tried any off-brand markers though. Hobbycraft, Graphics Direct and Skipton Art Shop usually have promarkers on various offers and you can buy them in sets or individually.

Also try Cult Pens. If she looks after her stuff, I'd consider buying her some but if she mashes the nibs then no chance!

It's worth noting, you also need special alcohol marker paper to use the markers on- windsor newton marker paper is the best one I have found. It has a special coating on the back to stop the ink bleeding and also doesn't absorb a ton of ink as heavier papers do, so the markers can blend their inks as they're designed to do.

For a serious artist - which it sounds like she is - they are definitely the best and worth the money. You absolutely get what you pay for. As above she’ll need special paper as well. If you can afford some, I would.

Fantastic all, I so appreciate the encouragement, experience and recommendations, we’ll go for it! So excited for dd!
