My DD is 15 and a bit obsessed. I know, I know! Strange choice.

She says the colour palette of The White Company make her feel calm and better organised.

Her room was redecorated in 'Almond White' and she's got some lovely White company sheets (second hand) from eBay. It's 'a thing' at the moment

What can I buy her if she loves this style? I want to give her a lovely Christmas

She saved my life this year by dialling 999 for me when I was in denial. I have said I will spend some extra and I mean it

She recently got a new phone from her dad and got a free tablet with it, which she likes to watch YouTube and Netflix on, and says it's good for revision etc. So no need for any tech and she isn't 'big' on devices

What else could I get her? She loves her echo dot. She uses it to set timers and reminders. Would a newer version with the improved speaker be a good gift? Or would you not bother because it's not on the list?

I like them having a few bits to open

She has a (again second hand from Vinted) bath robe that she got herself and has requested from her list a dressing gown from there... but I don't want to spend £100 on it. Grin

My house is colourful and full of random stuff that I just like. Her room is immaculate and plain! As is her style... I feel a bit out of touch and not sure what to get her.

So we have very different styles and I personally think she is a woman of 50 hiding in a 15 year olds body which we like to joke about.

My other daughter is 23 and moved out a while back. She was not like this and more easy to please

I have a 7 year old also so the budget is about £250 max

What would you get from this list for her if you were me? Anything you'd add or definitely not get?

She does get a stocking but I put things like chocolate orange in there etc

I would definitely get the White Company dressing gown as a priority - it’s top of the list AND underlined! You still have a good budget to get lots of the other smaller items too.

OhComeOnFFS · 07/11/2023 20:51

She sounds very classy!

I wouldn't get her dupes - she sounds as though she'd prefer less stuff but better quality.

TenThousandSpoons · 07/11/2023 20:54

Sorry just realised you had already decided to get the White Company dressing gown. She will be very chuffed I’m sure. Although they’re expensive it will probably last her years. 🤍

GeneCity · 07/11/2023 21:01

Aw, I'm glad you're going for some White Company things - they're what she really wants 💛, and your budget is high enough.

I hope you all have a lovely Christmas.

EverythingLouderThanEverythingElse · 07/11/2023 21:53

A nice lip balm, it's expensive but Christian Dior do a nice one. I bought directly from the Dior website so no discounts, they will engrave the case for free plus free delivery. The packaging is beautiful, a fabric pouch plus fancy gift bag and satin ribbon, extravagant at £32 but a lovely gift.

Britneyfan · 08/11/2023 05:42

Definitely get the White Company dressing gown for her. And not an oodie! I would prioritise that and the Pearl studs plus cheap stuff like nice lip balm and notebook.

D20 · 08/11/2023 07:36

Pleased that you are going for the WC robe she wants. I have a long velour one myself and it is fantastic.

FM do samples if the discovery set doesn’t come back in stock https://m.fredericmalle.co.uk/product/21167/55985/custom-sets/sample-service#/sku/89913

Lavenderhazee · 08/11/2023 08:14

Your budget is decent, I wound prioritise getting less items but of the brands she wants over everything on the list but at worse quality. When I’m asked to make a Christmas list I never expect to get everything on it!

The White Company often have codes available, if you can wait until Black Friday and get the robe and diffuser? If she likes Seychelles the little bottle of shower gel is only about £8. IF you want to save any money, Aldi sometimes does a white company style dupe of hand cream and shower gel, but I would only do this for the ‘extras’ definitely get the real thing for the dressing gown.

DoktorPeppa · 08/11/2023 08:25

Not suggesting it as an alternative but as cheapie extras, Aldi have lovely White Company dupe candles.

Spinet · 08/11/2023 08:46

The thing with expensive white robes etc is it's a sort of minimalist vibe isn't it. So don't buy her a pile of stuff. She wants a few special things, probably wrapped beautifully.

My house looks like a junk shop in a gypsy caravan too but it sounds like she's rebelling against your clutter! I'd get the robe as you're planning, one other thing, and chuck her the remaining cash or give her a white stuff voucher.

Spinet · 08/11/2023 08:46

*white company...

Workingitout1 · 08/11/2023 09:07

Do you have a white company code? There’s often ones for 10-15% flying around which will help. Sorry I don’t have one.

YuliaJollyberry · 08/11/2023 10:20

From the list and with your budget I’d go for the long robe (it’s underlined and top of the list) plus the diffuser (wished for item and probably not expecting as you mentioned can get lots of dupes much cheaper of the taller style though I’ve never seen a dupe of the one you linked)

Long cosy robe £85 The WhiteCo
Ceramic Diffuser £80 The WhiteCo
Seychelles Fragrance Oil £10 The WhiteCo
White wireless headphones £20 ish
Plant in white vase £6 Low maintenance plant B&Q
Nice Lip balm £10 ish
Understated Single Notebook £2.49 Notepad
Small earrings £35 Pearl earrings John Lewis
Total £248.49

If I was able to get the discount on the robe and diffuser I’d probably add the Seychelles body butter or body & hair mist as an extra luxury surprise too.

Elizabeth Arden 8 hour lip balm is the best I have ever used.
I think you're spot on to go for top quality items but fewer. Your DD knows what she likes.

Monkeymonkeymoo · 08/11/2023 10:56

I think you’re totally right to get the dressing gown. I’m like your daughter and have very specific taste. I’d much rather have one perfect thing than lots of presents that aren’t exactly right.

Your daughter’s taste sounds fairly similar to mine so as well as the dressing gown I’d get:

These earrings (there are often huge discounts over Black Friday so sign up to get the Flash Sale notifications): https://www.monicavinader.com/mini-pearl-stud-earrings/gold-vermeil-mini-pearl-stud-earrings-pearl?_gl=1lokk0w_up*MQ..&gclid=Cj0KCQiAgK2qBhCHARIsAGACuzmk1FYeVI2YhdKCHqcueyCham0jN_9xAC1tFhVb988BrC4w9o_bI0UaArUpEALw_wcB#

This lipbalm: https://www.johnlewis.com/le-labo-lip-balm-15ml/p3763684 (there might well be a 20% off makeup before Christmas so I’d wait and see).

This diffuser (it’s a similar aesthetic to the White Company one but nearly half the price), with the Seychelles oil: https://www.oliverbonas.com/homeware/ceramic-essential-oil-aroma-diffuser-273065#selection.color=2000

This notebook https://www.libertylondon.com/uk/tanjore-gardens-handmade-b5-embroidered-journal-000745542.html#pos=32 with these highlighters: https://www.libertylondon.com/uk/mitsi-highlighter-set-000786418.html

If she wants a plant then peace lilies are really easy to look after. Waitrose often does them in textured ceramic, white pots. Bloom and Wild also does lovely plants in classy but contemporary pots and they’ve always got discount codes (they also deliver).

Nice black socks: https://www.johnlewis.com/john-lewis-merino-wool-mix-ankle-socks/p110844852

I’d probably then look at your budget and see what is left (hopefully you can get quite a lot of the items above for a discount during Black Friday). If you have some budget leftover then I’d go for the perfume or the headphones.
If you decide to get the perfume then Cult Beauty has 15% off for new customers and has the 10ml spray.

@meandmycrew still had this tab open and just wondered if your Dd was pleased with what you got in the end?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 06/01/2024 03:18

Ahh , I've just seen this too .
Hope your DD got some lovely things that she was delighted with ( and not "picky" I'd say "selective" Xmas Wink )

My DD wanted Levi 501s ( she got them) and nice pyjamas (bought M&S ones ) she's already got a CyberJammies robe .

I bought her some Nails Inc , Revitalash serum , Sol de Janerio showergel and Stella McCartney Pop perfume samples to try out . (She didn't like the SM , her favourite one is discontinued sadly) .

She has catci from Urban Outfitters (in pots ) I'm not a houseplant person .

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 06/01/2024 03:20

Oh and earrings too , Moissanite /gold , and CZ /gold
