Pick up the parcel that arrived today from under my bed and put it somewhere else.

Pumpkin40 · 04/11/2023 17:39

Opened the Celebrations 🤦🏽‍♀️ and bought some more pigs in blankets. This week I have wrote the Christmas cards and had a shop from Tesco arrive full of Christmas chocolates, biscuits and Pringles.

Peanutbutterismyjam · 04/11/2023 17:41

Made a list of books to buy 4 year old. Now just need to narrow it down slightly then order them later.

Mainly lists and online ordering - not being Bah Humbuggy but I've had a miserable cold since Wednesday .
DH and I were away and got back on Sunday.
Managed to sort through some of my lists - shampoo carpet , washing , put charity collection together and clothes to go in the loft
Changed DS and DD bedding to winter bedding (DD insisted Xmas Grin )

Then I just felt dog rough , barely managed anything , had to cancel loads I had planned for this week. Due back to work on Monday .

I'll bump lots of the plans till next week . I need to get fruit for the Christmas Cake but I never make that before December .

I've got DD Dec 1st Box pretty much sorted , a couple more things for DS
And I need to look out for The Snowman loo roll .

MissMarplesNiece · 04/11/2023 17:49

Made a batch of sweet crust pastry to put in freezer ready for mince pies. I'm trying to decide whether to make some mincemeat or just buy some. I won't be making lots of mince pies so don't know if making my own mincemeat is worth it. Does anyone have a recommendation for a good one to buy?

Perused a couple of catalogues looking for a sweater for DH.

Finishing the paper chains for the living room ceiling because I'm putting the decorations up tomorrow, very early but it makes us all happy and does no harm so why not? 🎄

@Mytinyman what have you used for making paper chains? I saw some precut stuff at Tesco yesterday ( I would prefer precut stuff for simplicity ) but wasn’t keen on their pattern, would love more traditional style: red and green. So wonder what do other people use?

AdaColeman · 04/11/2023 18:10

Consumer test the stollen and some Christmas chocolate to make sure it's up to standard before ordering more.

Look for a Christmas jumper for Grandson.

MrsWhites · 04/11/2023 18:15

Today I ordered clothes for over Christmas for my DS whilst I had a 20% code on my M&S sparks card.

Tomorrow I will finish painting my interior doors so they are ready for decorating the tree in a few weeks - also got the stairs banister to do before then aswell!

MintJulia · 04/11/2023 18:16

I've started the food shopping.

I put a bottle of pink fizz in the trolley today, and also bought a large jar of filling for mince pies, to which I have added a large glug of whisky tonight 😊

Now I'm sitting writing lists. I love this time of year.

Pinkkisugarmouse · 04/11/2023 18:23

🤷🏻‍♀️I didn’t plan to do anything today but I have ordered a large henna kit and a pig crochet kid on Etsy for my almost 21 year old DD. I have already sorted her birthday present so these are for Christmas. I don’t get loads now she’s an adult so maybe a couple more gifts.
I have 2 for DH and will get a couple more. Apart from the animals that’s it. Nearly done already.

Pinkkisugarmouse · 04/11/2023 18:23

pig crocheted kid not kid 🙄

Pinkkisugarmouse · 04/11/2023 18:24

Basically you get the stuff to make 2 pigs.

hockityponktas · 04/11/2023 18:24

I’ve sorted out what I’ve brought already and made lists; what I’ve already got and what I need to buy.
Also found out the kids advent calendars and put the bits in that I’ve already brought and ordered the other bits to go in.
And I’ve sorted out what wrapping bits I need to get when I pop into town tomorrow so I can get wrapping this week! Must not forget a new tape dispenser😃
feeling very organised! Next weekend I’m going to make some Christmas bunting I think!

halfthesun · 04/11/2023 18:34

Clearly the universe intends that you must have a yarn-based child.

TeenDivided · 04/11/2023 18:48

Today I tided the bed in the spare room where I store Christmas presents.
Everything is now out of the bags/boxes it has been sent in and sorted into boxes per person.

Mytinyman · 04/11/2023 18:57

@pizzaHeart I got precut from home bargains in reds and greens it's fab but I use PVA glue instead of the adhesive strips it comes with because it holds better Smile

MonikerBing · 04/11/2023 19:07

Well I do feel very smug as I ordered some Christmas jumpers this morning(our elf gives them to the kids on 1 Dec) and have started this evening writing lists of ideas to buy.

That's it, but given I've done it about 4 weeks before I normally do, I feel quite proud.

Will do my Christmas cake on Stir Up Sunday.

housethatbuiltme · 04/11/2023 19:15

I bought crackers... in advance for once. Twelve for £3.99 so thats this year and next year sorted.

I also bought a few more presents.

I'm running out of money quick.

😆clearly. I didn’t think I had much in the way of crafting skills but as I managed to crochet an entire kid I’ve been doing myself a disservice. 😆

Oh thank you! I used them a few years ago with PVA but missed them somehow last year.
will make sure to pop in on Monday. DD and I loved doing them - very therapeutic.

TangledWebofMincemeatDeception2 · 04/11/2023 19:43

I ordered a lovely set of 4 candles for the dining room advent candleholder.

Decided on what to give to DH (we only do one present to each other). Just a matter of looking out over the next few weeks to hopefully bag a bargain.

Start making my famous brambley apple sausage stuffing for the freezer. I can't abide all that shop bought rubbish. It's on with the gloves and into the freezer with good old homemade stuffing for me

There’s a whole Christmas thread dedicated to finding what sounds like this stuffing recipe!

MissMarplesNiece · 04/11/2023 21:22

@halfthesun I'm going to look up the pimped up cranberry sauce recipe.

piscofrisco · 05/11/2023 06:52

Start gathering some branches to use around my front door In a sort of door arch thing im planning.
