Going to M and S tomorrow morning after school run at 8 to get some party nibbles and some biscuits with my 20% off voucher.

Then it’s back home to:
Clean the oven
Clean the kitchen unit doors
Tidy the dresser

Cards ✅
Wrapping, next week.

Finally, things are starting to take shape.

Happy St Nicholas day to all who celebrate it. We had our chocolate Sinterklaas today, and that kind of kicks off the Christmas season for me.

Got the Asda shop with a tub of twiglets and cheese straws and Leffe but no sherry or Pringles in the Christmas packaging available!!!

DH's main Xmas gift arrived so that is him done. Hooray!

I meant to write a thank you/Christmas card for my lovely GP today, who single-handedly navigated me through the urgent/2-week wait pathway while all the strikes were happening over the summer (I had surgery two months ago but not cancer thankfully), but ran out of time. Tomorrow... Along with my mother's Christmas present...

Sourisblanche · 07/12/2023 15:14

@User1789 We had our visit from the Sint yesterday! Leuke Sinterklaas to you.

This week I ordered a few bits from Etsy. Ready for a big wrap session tomorrow.

Taytocrisps · 07/12/2023 18:52

I managed to order DD's tanning drops today Grin. They were out of stock but I got an e-mail to say that the shop had them back in stock and I ordered them straight away. I told her I was having difficulty finding them and she was very disappointed. I'm going to put them at the very bottom of her stocking.

I'm away this weekend - DD and I are treating ourselves to a festive weekend in Dublin. So I need to pack for that when I get home from work.

Taytocrisps · 07/12/2023 18:53

Oh and someone on a jigsaw thread mentioned a Bridgerton jigsaw, so I might check that out for DD.

APurpleSquirrel · 07/12/2023 20:14

I bought turkey foil today.

Pinkkisugarmouse · 07/12/2023 20:32

The last present for DH arrived today. Just one more to arrive for DD and it’s been dispatched.
The ones that have arrived are wrapped.
Just my cats to get treats for and for DD’s hamster who is special Christmas with us whilst DD is in Spain with her Dad and Nan. Yes I know presents for the hamster but that’s what we’re like in my family. 😆

Bubble54 · 07/12/2023 20:33

I've got the decorations up and have written all the cards - just have to hand deliver a few (hopefully soon!) Have got one present to decide on for DS and will pick up the remaining presents on the weekend. Not feeling well atm with fluey symptoms so hope I'll be better by Sunday! Haven't started wrapping yet but will try and do the posting ones on the weekend and DHs next week sometime.🎄🎁☃️

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 07/12/2023 21:02

I’ve bagged up and frozen the spiced red cabbage, made breadcrumbs (some frozen, some to be made into stuffing tomorrow, then frozen), printed the labels for the Christmas cards, and made a list of the presents that need to be wrapped and posted.

drspouse · 08/12/2023 20:38

I got my hair cut, does that count?
Tomorrow I'm planning to see how many Christmas cards I want to send.

Whatliesbeneath707 · 08/12/2023 22:59
  1. Take it steady & not get drawn into the panic filled run up 😅
  2. Enjoy thinking about the presents I want to buy people: a house gift or joint type gift for my nephew & partner and my niece & her partner for about £25. They are all in their mid 20s
  3. Plan my time tomorrow to visit various shops for random items - where can I get the mint chocolate orange from that's a special edition?
  4. Try to think of small gift ideas for a 13 yr old boy and a 20 yr old lad, to go with the vouchers I've got them
NoWordForFluffy · 08/12/2023 23:01

We got the keys for our new house. The race is on to get it ready! 🎄

FinallyFinalGirl · 08/12/2023 23:07

I cut holly from the garden today...I plan to place the sprigs atop the holiday bags for my neighbours.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 08/12/2023 23:22

Went to see Wonka. Wanted to get DD the Limited edition Wonka cup and hat shaped Popcorn bowl, but they were already sold out. I'm now on a probably impossible hunt. I'll get her an Odeon gift card for her stocking when I go back as that can always put to good use.

What's a holiday bag @FinallyFinalGirl ? I can't decide if they are going away, or if it's a gift bag of some sort.

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 09/12/2023 10:54

We are going to see Santa today! It’s at a farm shop so we’ll pick up some meat bits at the same time. I’ve also just finished cleaning the oven and grill for the first time in months!

I really need to put up dd1’s christmas lights in her bedroom but dd2 is projectile vomiting everywhere so struggling to put her down as she’s fussing.

I want to check the stuff I have for stockings but dd1 is here and may see.

RainbowZebraWarrior · 09/12/2023 13:21

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 09/12/2023 12:57

This cup, @RainbowZebraWarrior?

Yes, that's the cup. It was £24.99 for the cup filled with a drink and an amazing wonka hat filled with Popcorn. The cups are already going for £30+ on ebay, as shown. Going to try Odeon again on Monday first then decide if its worth paying over the odds.

I also need Minecraft story mode for switch. I ordered via Music Magpie, and Royal Mail lost the bloody parcel. Again, people are naming their price on ebay as its a discontinued game.

Time feels like it's starting to run out (have lots of appts and commitments in the next two weeks) and I keep wondering what I may have forgotten. I think I shall refresh my lists.

drspouse · 09/12/2023 13:27

Try CEX for discontinued games.

BiddyPop · 09/12/2023 13:34

Having written a list for potential presents, I will now head into the city to see about some shopping. Possibly even involving the local Christmas markets 🤶😁

And having also found my handful of cards, I will write those tonight (and try to figure out postage system in Belgium today or Monday).

On Monday, I will book my flights home...(either making my new boss say yes to my proposed plans or getting her plans actioned!).

Pinkkisugarmouse · 09/12/2023 18:45

I bought the presents for my two cats and for DD’s(21) hamster who is staying with us over Christmas as DD is going to Spain with her Dad to see her Nan, Aunt and Uncle and little cousins.
I am just waiting for one present to arrive. Due any day and then present wise I am done. 🍾🎉🥳🎄

stillholly · 09/12/2023 19:04

Has anyone still not put their tree up

wetotter · 09/12/2023 19:49

stillholly · 09/12/2023 19:04

Has anyone still not put their tree up

Yes, we do it only after the end of term

I bought the presents for my two cats and for DD’s(21) hamster who is staying with us over Christmas

I have bought presents (Christmas themed treats) for DDog from me and each of the DC. I have also helped DDog arrange a present for the family (a new board game, something she gets us every year)

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 09/12/2023 19:56

We haven’t put the tree up yet - we usually do it a week before Christmas.

I haven’t managed to do anything today.

CordeliaNaismithVorkosigan · 09/12/2023 20:49

I’m so impressed by the efficiency on this thread! Our tree is up - we’re giving a Christmas party for the neighbours tomorrow so put it up today. And food is basically sorted - I’ve made cake and pudding and ordered meat from the butcher. But I have only about 3 presents and haven’t even thought about DD’s stocking.

AdoraBell · 09/12/2023 21:50

We put the tree up today.

Tomorrow I’ll wrap presents and change DD2’s bedding. Next week I’ll make the cheese sauce for cheese cauliflower, freeze it. Monday I’m going to John Lewis with neighbours, I don’t need anything but elderly neighbour lost his wife recently and it’s the first time he’s buying Christmas presents. He’s sort of lost, going to his son for Christmas but no idea about presents.
