@Broodywuz - microwave, normally for about 4 minutes. Defrost it overnight, I froze it in a glass Pyrex storage dish so can then be served straight from there or decanted into another warmed serving dish.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 27/11/2023 08:24

Watch a cheesy Christmas film so I can start feeling festive

Desecratedcoconut · 27/11/2023 08:26

Today I've got an ocado delivery coming with a bunch of fiddly ingredients I can't get at the local shops - or at least can't find - to do a bunch of Nigella's recipes.

And I'm going to make and freeze some cranberry sauce and possibly wrap some gifts.

Taytocrisps · 27/11/2023 08:27

I picked up some more presents yesterday and got a few bargains in the sales. I'm not quite finished but I'm well on the way.

I'm working from home today and DD is at home so after work, we're putting up the tree and decorations. It's a bit early for me but DD is insistent. Later we'll watch the Late Late Toy show (recorded on Friday night).

If I've time after all that, I might do a present audit and maybe start wrapping.

*@Nearlyadoctor and any others pre freezing red cabbage. How will you heat it on the day?

Defrost it and use a saucepan. We don't have a microwave.

Broodywuz · 27/11/2023 09:09

*@Nearlyadoctor Microwave, perfect, doesn't even need space in the oven

BaconAndAvocado · 28/11/2023 08:30

Got back from girls' weekend yesterday so today I'm back on it....

Well, sort of.

I am now finally in possession of a Christmas list from a youngling.... just waiting on the other one 🙄

TeenDivided · 28/11/2023 08:33

Today I will: Wrap presents for DD&SIL.

Desecratedcoconut · 28/11/2023 08:48

I'm sending some Christmas cards to overseas family and buying stamps for the UK contingent ready to post on Friday. Easy one today.

Desecratedcoconut · 28/11/2023 09:00

Oh, and heads up to any other cooking rookies, making homemade cranberry sauce is like fashioning molten lava in the kitchen with improved staining qualities.

onlyhereforthechristmaschat · 28/11/2023 10:44

@Hotchocolatemousse thank you, I'll look into that!

I'm now on annual leave for 10 days so plan on getting into the Christmas mood...

I’ve had a few deliveries over the past few days so will wrap those and do a present audit and write a final final list of what still needs to be bought. DP’s birthday is on Saturday so I need to sort out which presents he’ll get for his birthday and which ones are for Christmas.

Not strictly Christmas related but I’m going to sort out my spare room today. It’s become a dumping ground and is making me feel anxious and overwhelmed. I’m going to spend the whole day putting things on Vinted and sorting out mountains of paperwork whilst blasting the Christmas tunes.

Togekiss · 28/11/2023 13:07

Today is very much an organisation day. Went and bought most of the kids presents’ last night so need to have an organise and find somewhere to hide them (difficult in a house with no spare room).

I’m working my way through the house doing a deep clean of each room so I need to really get on with that as well.

Tonight I’ll go through the kids’ presents and order any last bits so they arrive in the next week or so.

Will come back later to update, if only to force myself to be productive today.

WeirdPookah · 28/11/2023 13:16

I doubled up my Nectar points and had £80 to spend in Sainsbury's.

So got veggie pigs in blankets, cheeses, chocolates, crackers... all for free!

We got our tree at the weekend, so living room looks and smells lovely now.

MrsWhites · 28/11/2023 13:38

Starting to wash all the sofa cushions and covers - have to do one at a time as they fill the machine and also so we have some to sit on so will take a couple of days.

All in preparation for the tree going up on Friday, does anyone else clean like a mad woman before putting the Christmas tree up?

BellaTheDarkOverlord · 28/11/2023 13:59

Today I bought a small pack of Christmas cards for grandparents and an elderly neighbour who appreciate them. I got a couple of gifts bags too. Neighbours gift came. He does a lot for us so we’ve got him a nice watch as he was admiring dh’s.

Picked up a collection from Argos which was a faff as it was 3 separate collection codes. Got home and thought wait I’m missing something! I have forgot one code so I need to go bloody back 😂Picked up the last of the bits for the Christmas box. Dh’s last gift came today. His favourite cup was smashed when small twat cat knocked it into the sink. I’ve found a replacement so he’ll be very happy.

I don’t have time to wrap today as baby dd2 kicking off a lot and dd1 will be back from school soon.

🙋 guilty. It's about the one time a year I remember we have skirting boards.

BeastOfBODMAS · 29/11/2023 09:24

I started wrapping last night! It’ll be the first time ever not wrapping colleague gifts in a panic at 11pm before the last day of work.

psuedocream3 · 29/11/2023 10:37

Today is mostly an answering the door for deliveries day.

I don't have wrapping paper, stocking fillers or birthday cards/cake for my daughter. A bit surprised that it's not even December and theres hardly any christmas sweets/chocolates for stocking fiullers left now, every store I've been in has empty spaces where stock should be.

Need to figure out what I'm going to do about stockings today!

Justhereforthechristmasthreads · 29/11/2023 10:55

I've just finished the wrapping.

I've given my christmas tops a refresh in the washing machine ready for December work days too.

I am done bar 3 stocking fillers and a gift card. Still going real life shopping tomorrow so no doubt see more 😂😂 I do actually want a nice winter wooly jumper for myself

Desecratedcoconut · 29/11/2023 11:47

I bought a wreath for the door today, some additional wrapping paper and a couple of bits towards Christmas food. Plus, I ordered gifts for dh this morning. I'm pretty organised at this point.

Going to clean the crap the ridiculously over-crowded cupboard above the stairs this evening and dig out the Christmas duvet covers languishing at the back, ready for the weekend.

MrsWhites · 29/11/2023 14:12

General mad cleaning today.

Picked up candy canes, wrapping paper etc.

Want to start wrapping, and still working on my knitted Santa for DS!

RedToothBrush · 29/11/2023 14:14

Today I will lie in bed and pretend it's not happening so I don't have to clean the house.

TeenDivided · 29/11/2023 14:24

Today I have put outside lights up in the back garden. Just roughly, so there is something to see when cooking in the evenings.

MissMarplesNiece · 29/11/2023 15:40

I've received my parcel of the various things I ordered from Cat's Protection.

Desecratedcoconut · 29/11/2023 17:18

Spurred on by forecasts of impeding possible snow, dh and I put up the outdoor lights. Cupboard of doom will have to wait.
