Does anyone have a 2p machine toy?

When we went on holiday our 2 year old loved playing with the 2p machines so much that I would like to get him one for Christmas!! Does anyone have one? There’s a few on Amazon and other shops but they’re all different prices and not many reviews so I don’t know which one to get him 🤷‍♀️

It is, basically, gambling. If you want to be extreme. And do you want to encourage that in your DC?

Also, if you gift one, then you're taking away the enjoyment of a treat when you go on holiday/on a day out.

I say that with a 23yr old who loved them at 2yrs and still loves them now!

I can't recommend one, but everyone loves a 2p machine!

My kids had a claw sweet grabber thing which they loved, but I would say with all these gimmicky things, at some point someone will try and put real money in - rather than the coins that come with the toy - and it will probably jam!

I guess at 2 years old though you will be playing with him, so may not be a problem.

We got a small toy one from B&M last year, the DC love it. It comes with LOADS of toy money, and the slots at the top are far too small for anything other than the play money and maybe a 5p coin.

It's not big enough for "prizes" so DD drew some on bits of thin card and we push them in through the slot at the bottom, so they sit on top of the coins. It's not elegant but it works!

This is the one we have:

But ours has dinosaurs. It's a bit noisy but it does work quite effectively, and it should stand up to a 2yo! Although the coins are very small so they'll need proper supervision etc. Mine are quite a bit older but they get it out quite often and even manage to take turns.

We bought one for our DD...she is obsessed with 2p machines on holiday. Can't remember which one we got but it wasn't very good and I don't think you can replicate the real ones very well.

😂do you tell parents that buying cuddly toys is basically zoo keeping?

I bought one from.the Works last year for my gambling loving 7 year old. It was crap and barely looked at.

I played bingo and 2p machines like crazy as a kid... I barely ever gamble. Certainly no addiction here.

We where just saying this the other day as my teen loves bingo but you can't seem to play under 18 (not even prize bingo) anymore which is ridiculous.

I said it on the phone thread and I will say it again... exposure takes away the novelty and drive, its perfectly safe to allow kids basic exposure to things like technology, gambling, alcohol. People who are allowed to do things don't become obsessive and addicted later on because it has no magic draw anymore. Its the feeling of missing out that grows obsessive nature.

We have this from Smyths and its fab, my son loves it!

Hehehehehe!!! I never thought of that! That's great! At least you don't have to feed them or muck them out though! 🤣🤣

@OldTinHat I agree with you on this, but if dc are playing on screens, they’re already exposed to gambling - the underlying principles of most games are the same. That genuinely scares me, and an actual gadget type game seems almost quaint by comparison.
