Games for family including 80 year old

I'd like a game we can all play as a family on Christmas Day. DC are 12 and 16, plus 3 Grandparents. oldest being 80, very immobile so nothing physical. Also in a quiz last year just randomly answered no matter who the question was to, no idea why as generally quite with it.

So something lighthearted that everyone can join would be great.

The rizla game, where you stick a rizla with a celebrities name on everyone’s forehead and the person has to guess who they are. We played this with three generations and it went really well, as long as you steer clear of niche celebrities.

That sounds like a great idea actually. Something really simple

I think it's called Bop It. It plays a sequence of musical notes then you have to copy it. Then next person will get an additional note then has to copy it. And so on.

Herd Mentality. It's a board game. Aim of the game is to not stand out!

I have played 'the sock game' with multiple generations. Basically you have socks filled with identical small objects. One person names an item from the sock and everyone else has to find the object by touch alone.

You could also play Beetle.

Thanks we have the sock game but the Grandparents fine motor skills are now poor too. Beetle sounds like another good shout though.

Bop might be a little tricky too.

Herd Mentality I had looked at buying recently as we like to get new games each year.

Dominoes tournament can be fun.

Agree Beetle is a good option.

We always played charades with my elderly parents. It would go on for hours.
If you don’t mind a bit of preparation, collect photos of celebrities when they were young or get more current photos and cut off below the eyes. Put the photos on large sheets of paper on the wall for people to identify - use a mixture so there are stars your parents will know.
Alternatively, stills from movies.
I agree that Beetle is good fun.

'don't clap this one back'

notanotherclairebear · 24/10/2023 15:06

Yahtzee!

Or Rumikub. My grandmother loved it and played regularly. She was over 90

LadyDanburysHat · 24/10/2023 15:25

Some great options thanks

Sorry!

Basically Ludo with attitude and revenge. Hilarious. No complicated rules. Must find my box...

Bubblegum20 · 24/10/2023 16:18

Scattegories always goes down well with a similar age range in our family

TakeMe2Insanity · 24/10/2023 16:23

My mum was a very fit active 80 year old and we’d play balloon volleyball in the living room - not a massive court but lots of laughs.

The usual card games, top trumps, board games etc
