Hi.
Meeting some extended families in the build up to Christmas, some are vegan others gluten free, some both !
Please hit me with your suggestions for nice / treat tins / boxes for gifts. Preferably not just chocolate truffles.
Thank you 🎄

Try Rhian's Recipes website and make your own? There are some fudge stores that do dairy-free options and you can buy online - Roly's might do it. I often buy sweet hampers/gifts on Amazon too.

NOMO is made by kinnerton and for dairy chocolate eaters it is not very nice. I would recommend going down the free from aisle in a big supermarket. Also go down the chocolate aisle and just read all the labels. The posh chocolate is often both gluten and dairy free. Experience of a milk and egg intolerant coeliac in my family means I've spent many an hour down these aisles seeking inspiration for presents!
Edited to add watch out for the "may contain" as alot of chocolate may contain dairy and or gluten so is not likely to be suitable.

Google tells me that The Fine Chese company do fancy looking gluten free cheese crackers. I've never personally tried them though. But they look nicer than big standard Nairns crackers.

We have vegans.

Hotel Chocolat have a box of vegan chocs. Also, you can get vegan Kit Kats from Asda for £1 each. Dairy Milk and Galaxy also do vegan bars. You can get vegan mince pies, brownies etc which would look lovely if you re-packaged them in a nice tin. Jammy Dodgers, Oreo’s (I think) and chocolate bourbon biscuits are vegan friendly.

Candy Kittens are all vegan and really nice, although not cheap. But there’s lots that is accidentally vegan, like Skittles or some of the Swizzle sweets. Amazon do big bags of vegan sweets but you’d probably want to repackage them.

I think the ‘May contain’ thing just means it’s made in the same factory, so they can’t absolutely guarantee that it’s dairy free for allergy purposes (due to the risk of cross contamination) but the risk is pretty non existent if it’s not in the ingredients.

Thanks for the ideas. Think I'll set aside a bit of time when I'm next in the supermarket to check to the seasonal & free from isle. Also thanks for idea of the 'accidental' vegan ideas.

Pleased to see the free from ranges have increased in recent years
