Vtech marble rush for an 8 year old?

Is the Vtech marble rush too young for an 8 year old?

I’m looking at the adventure set for my 8 year old DS. The box says age 4+ however some reviews say siblings 8-12 enjoy playing with it. Any thoughts?

My DS still likes the galt marble run but it’s a bit limited with what you can do. He has gravitrax but doesn’t reach for that very often.

I've bought a set for my my son's Christmas, he will have just turned 4. He has played with one before and was definitely too young to build it properly, but enjoyed making his own basic things, or playing with it when an adult built it. I would guess that 8yo might still enjoy it but probably won't have much longevity. I'd think 8bwould be towarss the upper range.

If he’s really into his Galt one, get some accessories for it from Marble Genius (which are compatible). They do sets like stunt parts etc….

we have the marble rush & I think it’s a bit disappointing tbh altho my nearly 8 does play with it sometimes.
do you have any gravitrax extension sets? I only have the basic one, but I think with more bits it could be quite satisfying.

Got it for my son aged 9. It was disappointing - I think the adverts make it seem better than it is. My son asked for it but when he got it only played with it once

Thanks all, that’s very helpful.

He just has the gravitrax starter set and because he doesn’t play with it often I’ve been loath to spend more on extension sets, but maybe you’re right glovesandscarf.

I think gravitate it might be worth doing with him for a bit it can be a little fiddly & isn’t as obvious as classic tube ones

My six year old loves it and asked for more for Xmas but My 9 year old liked it last year and doesn’t enjoy it now! He’s not a grown up nine year old by any means he still likes imagine x and treasure x but the vtech marble run hadn’t kept the same interest.

Thanks, I think I’ll give it a miss. I think he’d enjoy it for a short time but it doesn’t seem like it would have longevity (and it would massively clutter up the house!). I’ve looked again at gravitrax and there are some extension things which look like they’d make it more fun and that I think he’d enjoy using with his current set so I’m going to get some of those instead.

I came on to say Gravitrax too. My ds has just turned 11 and asked for more extensions for his birthday so hopefully it’ll have some mileage for your ds too!

Thanks! Has anyone got the catapult? Reviews on that add on are hit and miss. The other add ons get all round good reviews. It’s inexpensive but I don’t want to get something that disappoints for Christmas.

I'm going to go against the grain here. I have an 8 year old DS and Marble Rush is one of the most played with toys in our house.
We started with the Adventure Set and have since added the Corkscrew Challenge and the Launch Pad.
I will caveat this with my DS loves building generally so will build massive runs of his own design. He avidly watches Marble Race Championship on YouTube to draw inspiration too.
I think Marble Rush is suitable if your child is willing to do more than just build the suggested models that come in the box.

Thanks for sharing your experience @FizzWhiz I can see my DS enjoying it too.

Anyone else with positive experiences with older DC?
