Alternative ideas to a Christmas tree?

DS is 9mo old and crawling. He is in the mode of destruction around the house at the moment. I can't see that calming down any time soon 🙈

This year we won't be able to have a tree as it will be a constant battle stopping him from pulling it over/pulling off the baubles.

Are there any alternatives I can do above reaching level?

I would do a normal tree but practically non breakable baubles at the bottom . We've got through three puppies and 1 toddler like this - I think the playpen round it sounds a good idea .

That said - sounds weird but have you googled upside down Christmas trees ?

It can help if you have wooden trims/dado etc in the house? My kids are big but I’m still in the habit of anchoring the top of my tree to the window frame - I staple the end of a thin but strong chord to the wooden architrave around my living room window and tie to the top of the tree.

Also my kids, when little, had their own bag of shit baubles that they did up to their height on the lower branches. I’d then put all the glass ones up high when they were at school. I always put a whole big garland with lights on, attached to the architrave that divides the kitchen/dining and I use loads of baubles on that and treat it like an extra tree.

Oh I’ve just remembered that DS also has his own 2/3ft tree. Cheapy one from the range. He’s allowed to play with it all he wants.

One of the houses where we leave has a wooden cactus wrapped in fairy lights and I love it.

I agree with @parietal - a small tree out of reach on a tall chest or table.

I got a lovely mini tree by Cath kids ton from Moonpig or funky pigeon last year that I put on a table it had little lights etc

I also saw a felt tree that could be hung on the wall

I actually have a few different trees. I'm a childminder so each year I have different ages and stages of children and have to adapt accordingly.

This year I have 2 children under 1 and 2 between 1+2 so have decided to have the half tree 4ft and attach to wall on top of a Kalax unit. This will stop kids teaching it and tying to the wall should stop cat knocking it over lol.

I also have a 5ft tree I can tie to a small side table and a 7ft full tree for when I have no babies lmao.

Good advice is to pop to £shop and get a small tree and some decs for baby to play with. Their own tree. Stops them touching mummy's tree.

What about one of those twig tree things from hobbycraft, you can decorate it with little baubles and a small string of lights. They're the perfect size for being on a table or window ledge etc

This is what I have bought until my crazy frenchie puppy is older .
