Are they worth the money over cheaper non branded ones please?

CoffeeBeansGalore · 01/10/2023 16:03

Costco stock Comfy. Warm, cozy, not too heavy. Wash well. Last year £19.99 in warehouse or £29.99 online which includes delivery.

I bought this on Amazon £20-25 depending on choice of pattern. I love it as it’s full length and doesn’t leave me with a warm top half and cold legs. I’m 5’5” and it’s almost ankle length. Really comfy and washes well.

DD has an Oodie and it's really thick but it washes very well and is still fluffy and soft.

But - it's basically impossible to do anything while wearing it. Even making a cup of tea is dangerous as the arms are so long and wide.

She wears it after a shower in the evening, when she is ill or just hanging out on the sofa.

Very true. I'm amazed when people say they cook wearing theirs! I'm tall with long arms and it still gets in the way of I try to do anything while I wear it.

I think it's very good for working from home or sitting on front of the TV. But due to how tight the cuffs are useless for doing anything else!

I’ve got the Sienna from Amazon and it is perfect, not too bulky or hot, just right. Also very cheap. Washes well too. On its second winter now.

SoupDragon · 02/10/2023 09:34

We've had Oodies, the Sienna one from Amazon and Primark ones and they all end up losing the fluffiness of the lining. Personally, I don't think the Oodies are worth the price based on my experience.

kkr168 · 02/10/2023 14:10

I have the costco one & find it way to hot unfortunately, so went back to my old dressing gown.
My son has a hugzee & a cheap asda one, he chooses the asda one every time.
I just find the sherpa lining far to warm & clearly my son does too.

Sorry to hijack but does anyone know which ones from the 5poundstuff website are actually real oodies? I'm browsing but I honestly don't have a clue and I don't want a different thinner brand (I've already got a Primark one that I love but would like to try the real thing!)

I just ordered the tie dye one suggested above-all of the comments under it are saying it is real so that's a good place to look as well!!!

HolidayBurden · 03/10/2023 22:16

Kuddly are the better of the two. We had one of each and everyone prefers the kuddly. Less bulky, but equally warm.

littleblackcat27 · 04/10/2023 08:20

I looovvvve my Oodie - if you need warm - it's warm!

Last year I used is quite a lot as a lap blanket without even putting it on when I sit reading or doing crochet. It immediately warms you up and the cat seemed most appreciative too.

If it's proper cold - I wear it with just a t shirt and flannel PJ bottoms underneath. Very cosy for watching TV in the evening.

Each to their own - but it was worth the extra money 3 years ago 😁

littleblackcat27 · 04/10/2023 08:23

LMAO at people saying the oodie is 'dangerous' in the kitchen - hilarious!!

Yes - I have safely made a cup of tea when wearing one.

No - I haven't cooked a 4 course deluxe meal while wearing one - Grin

anon0007 · 04/10/2023 08:45

We have 2 oodies and 2 kuddlies. I prefer ds oodie and he prefers my kuddly.

Dh had a primark one which he's had for a year and it's thin. The oodies and kuddlys are still really thick and warm.

You can make cups of tea with them on. They're not dangerous Smile

MamaDollyorJesus · 07/10/2023 10:51

For anyone looking for original oodies there's a few good deals on just now.

wibdib · 07/10/2023 18:33

Ds1 got one from Dunelm last Christmas and he has lived in it throughout the year - even when it was hot outside 😳🙄
Ds2 had a genuine oodie from 5poundstuff. His is definitely much nicer quality but he hasn't worn it as much as it can be too warm. And also because he likes being in a nest of soft blankets 🙄😂. He has the slipper sock things from Dunelm that match ds1's hooded blanket which he wears quite a lot.

I asked ds1 if he wanted a proper oodie one like Ds2 (if I can spot one on 5 pound stuff again!) and he wasn't that bothered - maybe if it's really cold winter but he was happy to have had the thinner one. DH liked it so we got him one for father's Day so he can wear it to work in (he works from home) as that seems sensible.

Just curious - what do people call their hooded blankets as that's a cumbersome thing to say all the time... Here they are affectionately known as floofs or floofles!

LaurieFairyCake · 07/10/2023 18:51

Just for anyone thinking of buying a real one - I got mine today and bought a kids one

It definitely fits up to a size 14

I'm a 12 and it is still generous, a bit bigger than if I wore a normal hoodie, an amazing massive pocket, and it's down to my mid thigh

Dh got an adult one and we can both get in it and he weighs 15 stone ! And is 6 foot 3. It comes down almost to his knees

SO GLAD I GOT THE KIDS ONE Grin

JustWhatWeDontNeed · 07/10/2023 18:55

I got us all Kuddly's but tbh I find mine far too cumbersome.
