None messy crafts

My 8year old loves crafts, clay, play dough, beads, slime, sand and anything else messy. I want to buy her some craft materials that she can do by herself and doesn't make a mess. I try to put mats down but after clearing up the sand out of the carpet for the millionth time I'm getting tired of it. The clay also has suspicious bite marks as I think my 1 year old got at them. Anyone got any bright ideas??

Would she be interested in learning to knit or crochet. Both a great skill for later in life and not messy. Will require some initial input though.

Also may eventually produce a yarn hoarder.. but that's just a risk you have to take.😁

Kumihimo. 8 is a great age to start. Start her off with a cardboard circle with 8 cuts and 7 threads. If she likes it you can get her foam circle or squares to try out new patterns for herself.
I'd suggest loom bands if you can still get them, but if your 1 year old can't be kept separate that might not work.

I just looked this up. I found a foam circle in the playroom and had no idea what it was or where it came from. Will ask her later.
She has loom bands and loves them but they stay at grandparents to keep them away from the baby.

She’d be able to do aquabeads herself, not sure how you feel about how possible it would be to keep the baby away

IKEA have little beads that you put on pegged boards. You then iron over them and the meld together. Can make key rings, tree decorations, etc.
Someone else will remember what they’re called.

Shrinkles - she could do everything up to the point of putting them into the oven

Not a craft but what about puzzles? Or they have those building kits like gears and such.
