Stocking fillers for 6 1/2 year old girl

I'm getting DD a Gravitrax starter set, a potion making kit (which I think will be a big hit) and some books (yet to be identified). But I would love some good stocking ideas. She likes: cheetahs, maths, climbing, coding, science, rocks, nature and crafts. She is completely uninterested in what she wears as long as it doesn't feature the now-banned pink or unicorns, regards lip balm as the devil's work and has eczema so can't really have bath bombs. Last year's biggest hit was a mini microscope - we work on the basis that Santa brings stocking presents but I was quite annoyed he was getting the credit for that one. Any inspiration for something which would go down equally well would be much appreciated.

There are definitely cheaper ones available but I really liked the look of this one with the cauldron and wand. Apparently it also has suggestions for refilling the ingredients.

This looks awesome, although definitely wouldn't fit in my DCs' stockings and would need to be a tree gift here.

DD2 was 6.5yo last Xmas. Winning smaller tree presents/stocking fillers for her were a Rubix cube, miniature cheap perfume (I always pop something like this into the stocking that they know I would 'never' buy them. It was some sparkly nail varnish the year before), Lego and Playmobil blind bags, small Gravitrax add ons, a torch, and whoopee cushion.
Both DD2 and 9yo DD1 are getting mini selection boxes of semi-precious stones this year. They were less than £3 each on Temu. Last year, DD1 got a pendant necklace with a lapis lazuli from Groupon, which was a success, and has previously received and loved the crystal-growing tree mentioned up thread (it came from Flying Tiger IIRC).

As this seems to be a thread of kids with similar tastes, I'm sharing this book, which is now on my list https://www.waterstones.com/book/spin-to-survive-deadly-jungle/emily-hawkins/ruby-fresson/9780711265721

That book looks great! I’m ordering it now!

Could you get her a subscription to the young national geographic mag? Not stocking filler I grant you.

LaundryWoes · 30/09/2023 08:11

This book is lovely and might suit her interests.

@LaundryWoes ooh, that looks good! @namechange55465 looks very promising! @MuggleMe I will definitely look into it! I had also been looking at Aquila magazine (it says it's aimed at slightly older kids but her reading is very good).

This has been very useful! If only my mother-in-law was so much fun to buy for ...

Get the potionlab kit you mention in one of your posts - my daughter loved it, its really lovely! Get some little glass jars with lids for her to store her potions in. Order it early.

Whizz Pop Bang is another great magazine subscription to try. It’s a different science theme each month and has craft activities.

This rabbit pencil sharpener that’s teeth move as you sharpen would be a good stocking filler. Hours of joy here !

I’m on the hunt for good places to get kids stationary now if anyone has any gems.

@Finchgold WPB looks good (possibly more fun than Aquila). I do worry I'll get nagged into doing lots of experiments and craft projects, but I might need to suck that up!
