Looking for inspiration regarding a festive family weekend in London. Kids are preteen / young teen.

Following. I would love to do winter wonderland but it always gets slated on here.
Christmas lights down Oxford st would be a must and a festive afternoon tea. There are a few available but pricey.
ice skating might be good for that age.

Depending on where you are The Museum of the Home in Shoreditch does a lovely Christmas through the ages from Tudors to 2000s in room sets

Ice skating at Somerset house

Mischief theatre are doing Peter Pan Goes Wrong at The Lyric , there is also a Christmas event at the Excel but I’m not sure on dates .

Christmas at Kew is stunning but weekend tickets may have already sold out.

I'm following Pretty Little London on Instagram - there are lots of cafes/food places/places to visit that you perhaps wouldn't find on your own.

… The gingerbread city (museum of architecture) is fun if you happen to be around there

Kew Gardens have the nicest lights

there are also ice rinks at Battersea power station (good view of the Thames) Hampton court (good to combine with Kew) and I think Kensington palace

posh tea at fortnum and Mason

Selfridges has good window displays if they like fashion

If you are doing the central lomdon lights then South Moulton St are usually the best, and carnaby st is fun (and good for teen Christmas shopping)

A few different restaurants have igloo things on their terraces which is quite nice - the ones on top of John Lewis have a good view of london

We're going to see A Sherlock Carol
Open top bus tour to see the Christmas Lights
I love the idea of a festive Afternoon Tea but IRL it was underwhelming .

Mischief Theatre is always brilliant .

Winter Wonderland gets very busy , not been there for a few years but it got very muddy and it's ££

DD and I are kicking off December by going to ABBA Voyage Xmas Grin

Zippedydoodahday · 22/09/2023 23:35

The Snowman at the Peacock is always magical.

Me and DH have booked the bus tour of London lights. We normally just walk along Oxford Street, Regent Street and Carnaby Street but thought the bus might be fun. We are doing that on Christmas Eve.

We are also going to the Christmas Carol Concert at the Royal Albert Hall on Christmas Eve. This will be our 3rd year in a row. We both love it. Might not be your childrens' cup of tea but there is always a real range of ages there from pretty young, through teenage up to oldies like me and DH. It's really fun
