Our dd is currently Barbie mad, a lot of her friends seem to be the same so I think anything Barbie may well be popular.

I always love seeing and hearing what different children are interested in each year. What do you think will be on the wish lists this year?

We recieved the Smyths catalogue this weekend and dgd has spent ages looking through it. She's 7 and made a beeline for Barbie, she has seen some of the Movie dolls and the remote car in Fenwicks so far they are top of her list along with a large Aphmau cat teddy. She usually only asks for 1 or 2 items and the rest is from mum and dad. They're going with art supplies trolley, roller skates and a new purse with a couple of gift cards in (build a bear, cinema and claires).
We've gone down the experience route this year and bought tickets for harry potter tour in London and a couple of harry potter bits (hoodie, wand, book etc) to open on the day.
I know this years hottest toy lists contain things like Furby, bitzee, miniverse etc, but I think Barbie and Lego will be at the top of kids wishlists again.

I’ve deliberately didn’t get the Smyths catalog this year as everything will be circled. My 6yo is barbie mad too and is getting the campervan this year. I wondered into Smyths today and I absolutely will not be taking her in there between now and Christmas as there were massive barbie dolls houses everywhere, she’s got a fold away barbie house and I am not replacing it!

Her Santa list (limited to 4 things) consists of a dog whistle, fake McDonald’s food, fake make up ( she has real but wants fake🤷‍♀️) and a puppy. I think the fake McDonald’s food is for her play kitchen and the make up because her sister told her off for putting real make up on her our generation doll. The puppy, not a chance, she wants the dog whistle because she thinks she can control all the local dogs with one 😂

Shes also asked for a David Tennant Dr Who doll, she loves watching it. She also loves mini brands, the Disney ones are so cute.

This is everything I’ve got her, I still need the fake makeup, fake puppy and also a Squishmallow as she’s been saying how much she wants one. I’m also trying to keep tally of costs this year.

Barbie Camper £92.85
Make up kit - £20.79
MLP horse - £1.99
Play sand -£1.49p
Princess dough - 49p
Mini brands collectors case x 2 - £2.99 each
Mini brands series 2 ball - £8
Rubber duck - £2.99
Dog whistle - £1.91
Fake McDonald’s food - £1.94
Fake McDonalds food - £ 1.80
Slime pink - £ 1.19
Princess pin badges - £1.94
Dr Who set - £7.99

Maybe the new Bandai tamagotchi Uni, Peek a Roo panda, GoCube Edge, Lego Dreamzz and Lego Gabby’s Dollhouse

WaitingfortheTardis · 22/09/2023 06:42

Oh @Bubbleandsqueak22 I didn't know Tamagotchi's were back, I used to love mine as a child.

I can remember circling things in the Argos catalogue and then adding a pony to my list each year. I don't think I really wanted a pony that much, I just thought it was worth an ask!

It's funny how some years there are very clear must haves, like when Toy Story came out and everyone was desperate to find a Buzz Lightyear.

Turtles both my boys 9 and 6 want the teenage turtles lair and the pizza bus, they look so flimsy and most of the lair is cardboard but they want £80 for it! 😬

Filterphobia · 22/09/2023 19:49

@Favouritefruits we have the pizza bus and it’s really sturdy. I didn’t want DS to ask for the lair so I put the idea of the skateboarding set in his head and we’ve got him that. He only has a small bedroom and that lair looks huge.

I loved the TMNT as a child, it was one of the few things available on TV where we lived!

I also remember loving Polly Pockets, which seem to be making more of a come back, I wonder if they will be popular this year.
