Hi, so just as the title says I'm looking for ideas for my 2year old. Will be 2.5 at Xmas. He has toy kitchen and all the bits, various musical instruments, soft toys, fidget toys, iPad(was mine but I got a new one), trampoline, slide, swing, bike, hover, animals, shopping basket and scanner, cars, toy tools, interactive dinosaurs, books galore.......I'm not a fan of buying thing just because which I feel like I will end up doing as I'm stuck🙈 so what's everyone buying their 2 yr old🤔

Duplo
Playdoh
Sand pit
Dressing up clothes
Train set
Yoto player

witmum · 20/09/2023 05:52

Orchard games.
Sticker books.
Paw patrol sets (second hand).
Puzzle
Vouchers for expensive days out- from family

Things he has and loves:
Connect four (for turn taking not logical patterns).
Rocket launcher from Amazon £10
Letter fridge magnets
Teepee tent for a den

I try really hard to not go excessive and like the idea of giving them; something they want. Something they need, something they need something they wear, something they read.

I produce a list so I can try to direct family so we don't end up with lots of duplicates.

Mrsmch123 · 20/09/2023 07:59

Ohh like the yoto player. I hadn't seen them! He has everything else on the lists. Maybe try the "experiences" instead of actual things, I like that idea thanks 😊

If I remember my daughter being 2 was all about Play Doh and bubble bath.
(not used together obviously).

GrinAndVomit · 20/09/2023 13:57

My two year old is getting a toniebox for his birthday next month. Both my older two had it before him but have now graduated to a yoto box.
The yoto box and cards aren’t robust enough for a two year old IMO

oistopthatyoucheekysnail · 20/09/2023 14:04

My daughter loves her Tonies box.
Kinetic sand.
Play dough.
Dolls house.

Timetoeat · 20/09/2023 14:39

Toy garage
Wooden tools for playdoh
Games to learn taking turns.
There are some lovely wooden puzzles
Books

Mrsmch123 · 20/09/2023 22:15

Clearly I have been living under a rock as I hadn't head of tonie box either. Looks like that would be up his street. He's right in to puzzles so has loads of matching games, jigsaws, sorting type games. Maybe get him some new ones.

I picked up hungery hippos and kerplunk today and an inflatable punch bag type thing🙃🙈

Does he like trains?
If so then a Brio starter set. I was looking at photos today and have one of DS1 aged 2.5 playing with his train set with DS2 aged 6months watching. It still comes out from time to time and DS1 is nearly 10. It's all about designing the track now rather than pushing the train. Was handy for stocking fillers for several years as Santa brought top up packs of straights or curves.
We used to do big tracks with features from Duplo or the cars or farm animals

norbert23 · 20/09/2023 22:21

Magnetic squares / triangles that they can build houses / rockets with are great. Wind up toys and foam soap were always popular (still are now he's 4).

Footprintsinthesand · 24/09/2023 17:19

When my DS was 2 we got him a doll and pram. Still played with nearly every day and he's 4 (need to get DD her own this year - the pram wars in my house are unreal).

Another hit was a John Deere tractor that you take apart with a drill

Favouritefruits · 24/09/2023 18:36

when my son was two we got him a baby Annabelle and a pram, he loved it! It definitely had the wow factor on Xmas morning and he still plays with it now he’s 6, but he has one of those creepy luva beau dolls now instead of the little baby Annabelle.

ChristmasIsComing2023 · 25/09/2023 13:13

Mine is getting a few HappyLand sets that I’ve got him from Facebook Marketplace (treehouse, cottage and magic motion train track) and a LeapFrog Ice Cream Cart (also from marketplace). I’ll probably just get him some little bits to go with his main/big presents like puzzles, sweets, stickers and maybe some playdoh and/or paint as he has pretty much everything already 🙈

GettingStuffed · 25/09/2023 13:16

My granddaughter likes playing with the cat's toys. I'm joking about buying her a select. Sorry to DDiL if I've just outed myself

Raggeo · 25/09/2023 14:06

Train set, farm set, magnetic tiles and balance bike were all well used by my 2yo and all still played with now he is almost 4.

Mrsmch123 · 26/09/2023 10:13

we were at a relatives house over the weekend and he had a whale of a time playing with "girl" toys. So defo adding a doll and dolls house to the list.

My boy will be 2.5 years as well. I’ve got him a train set with an add on electric train that goes around the track.

I’d never heard of Tonies either but it does look interesting.

Ahwig · 25/10/2023 19:14

We bought my grandson a little wooden chair with his name on but, we didn't put it together. We got him to " help" grandad build it. I took a series of photos, with the box, then the bits on the carpet, then him " using" a screwdriver to tighten up the bits and then finally a picture of both of them sitting holding their screwdrivers up to the camera with the built chair next to them. The photos are lovely, we have them up In sequence and he still smiles at them and looks at them every time he goes past them and he's a strapping lad of 18 now. Because he " built " the chair he absolutely loved it and was quite sad when he outgrew it.😀

youdonotneedanewphone · 25/10/2023 19:18

A nice train set to which you can add bits over the years. Form time to time, you could give a new addition as a treat, a bridge, a train station, .....
One made of wood, possibly.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 25/10/2023 19:20

My boy is 2 is November so we will get him a yoto for then
He oves his brothers mini yoto.

So for his Xmas I'm going to get him a cleaning set (he loves to brush the kitchen floor but almost wipes everything out with our brush!)
And a singing hey duggee soft toy.

Chimchar · 25/10/2023 19:46

When my kids were little, I would buy them things that we would use anyway, but character versions... bubble bath, flannel, jamas, pants and vests with their fave tv shows on them. That kind of thing.

kikisparks · 25/10/2023 19:52

Came to say tonie box or yoto player but I see everyone else has the same idea! DD got an easel for her second birthday which I think will get a lot of use.
