Family presents on Boxing Day?

On Christmas Day the kids (6 & 4) will get their stockings first thing. We'll be going to my mum's at 11ish. She always spoils the kids (even having been asked to strip things back) and they'll have a stack of 7/8 presents each there. We'll be home at 6ish.

I was wondering if we could do one or two family presents before we go and then leave the rest until Boxing Day. Otherwise we have to squeeze it in and then just as everything is opened we have to leave it behind for the day. Then by the time we get to the grandma presents the lucky kids are a bit overwhelmed and not as grateful as they should be. Is this acceptable or a bit Scroogey?

Depends what's in the stockings. I'd prob do stockings and one present from you they really like, then Nans house. Then one small present before bed. Rest tomorrow

We always travelled to family abroad over Christmas and I loved that presents were spread out... we'd be allowed to open a few things under the tree the night before we went away (usually 23rd). Santa would bring presents to wherever we were staying and then we'd receive gifts from family as we saw them over the next few days, but santa also left a few presents (the large items!) At our house too and it made it exciting to come home to.

You could perhaps make a game of it for Boxing Day...a treasure hunt with a gift in each place, but you only get the clue every hour or so?

We always spread presents out because we don't see my family until boxing day most years. Makes it last longer it's great!

I'd be gutted if it was all over Christmas morning

We did this when I was little- presents from parents plus stockings on Xmas day with everything else on boxing day. It was good for us as it wasn't just present overload and then nothing. Did the same with our children when they were young too.

You can do whatever you want. You don't need permission.

I’m trying to understand the point of your thread OP? A stealth boast? Attention seeking? What exactly?

It’s frankly cringe reading and also makes your come across as someone who can’t see outside their own bubble, it’s embarrassing.

Do what you like OP however, gifts at home would certainly come before going to grandparents house and their gifts. What do your kids think Santa brings and what’s from you?
