Bauble wreath tips

I want to have a go at creating my own bauble wreath this year. I've watched a few you tube videos and have standard wire coat hangers but looking for tips for how many standard-size baubles I'm likely to need. Our existing baubles are packed away so can't use them as a guide unfortunately.

Any keen crafters able to help? Hoping to pick up some value packs now the decs are appearing in the shops.

TIA

Bloody hundreds of them! And you’ll need at least two sizes. The little ones are great for filling in the gaps. I found I got a better circle shape with a wreath base from Hobby Craft and a glue gun, but it would definitely have been cheaper to have bought one, unless you wait until after Christmas and pick up bauble packs in the sales.

Mine is packed away at the moment , but it was definitely more than I expected however I based my on a 16” polystyrene wreath base which I backed with a thick card before starting to give a bit more stability . Glue gunned the whole lot on , and definitely need two sizes , I think I had about 25 of the tiny ones and in the region of 70 normal sized ones . That’s a bit of an estimate from memory, I bought my baubles in the sale after Christmas, otherwise it would definitely have been cheaper to buy one , but I did have very precise colours that I wanted .

Thanks both for your replies. Useful to know buying one is likely to prove cheaper - might have to rethink the idea as I'd be looking at fairly standard colours (red, green, gold).

I used a pool noodle cut down as a base, needed so many more than expected and didn't last well they started coming unstuck in year 2. Did look great in year 1 though

I used well over 120 to do a wreath approx. 2.5ft in diameter. Go to Poundland, B&M, etc., or wait until the sales and get them as cheap as possible.

Hmm, I have definitely underestimated this task by the sound of it!
