Hot chocolate station

DD would like a hot chocolate station this year. I’d like to put one together with a nice wooden stand and some little jars, rather than buying one. Just been in B&M and I could only see some small kilner jars, no stands.
So please inspire me with your pictures, and let me know where to shop.

No. B&M has lots of Xmas stuff out. Might need to do a trip there, and to the Range.

Nonamenoplacetogo · 27/08/2023 16:39

We did this one December- just used things we already had, so a small cardboard box, hung candy canes along the back, sprinkles, hot choc- various flavours, marshmallows etc and squirts cream in the fridge. DD spent most of the hols making her siblings hot hoc

Mindovermatter247 · 27/08/2023 22:42

We made one which consists of a tray, 3 jars, one to decant a container of hot choc powder, one for marshmallows, one for chocolates to put on top, I also have a wooden bowl thing which houses the hotel chocolat packets and the small packets of powder. I’ve just added 2 jars of dusting… salted caramel and chocolate.

Really? Think I've seen it all now. We keep things in cupboards so they don't get dusty/greasy/dog hairs/human hairs delete as applicable ... how often do you allow hot chocolate anyway? Seems a lot of effort for an occasional treat (I love cocoa but has to be the real deal, cooked in the pan, beats any commercial hot chocolate hands down

I am a kill joy as well. I seem to spend the whole of December trying to stop my kids eat more sweet shite. They would have this everyday if out and have no teeth left.

The idea is that it’s a nice Christmassy thing to look at.

How exactly is it "a lot of effort"? You could say the same about wrapping presents just for the paper to be ripped off in seconds, or decorating a Christmas tree, or cooking Christmas dinner. Do you do any of those things?

My kids like the velvetiser hot chocolate best.

Can't you see the appeal of doing something like this as a special Christmas treat? The sort of thing kids will remember fondly. Wish I'd thought of it when mine where little, will park that idea for the grandchildren.

Completely unnecessary. OP wasn’t asking for your opinion, this is not AIBU it’s the Christmas topic and perhaps not the place for you. People don’t come here to shit all over other people’s Christmas plans.

I'm very much a Christmas fan @DustyLee123 and I know full well it;s August and I can even tell you how many days it is (119 as a matter of fact )

Does your DD want the Hot Chocolate Station for all of December or just Christmas week ?

I really hankered after a Velvetiser (Hotel Chocolat) and they have some good offers on QVC often with a couple of the cups and a couple of tins of the chocolate or sachets .
But the Velvetiser doesn't go in the dishwasher so I knew I'd not use it much .

I bought a milk frother from Amazon that has a setting for hot chocolate . It's enough volume for a nice cup , not too much .

I did buy Knoops and HC . I use an empty jamjar (the Bonne Maman ones with the red/white lids , very festive)
DD and I use soya milk which is quite sweet anyway .

You can buy a bar of dark chocolate and grate it ( it's what the HC powder is anyway)
I got some small glass mugs as they're prettier and not too big

Then:
if you want to , a can of whipped cream
Flakes/Twirls/Matchmakers
TKMaxx sell the flavoured syrups
Mini gingerbread men (McVities do them)
Candy Cane - you can crush or leave whole )
Terrys Chocolate Orange segments
Mini Toblerone (you can use this as your chocolate powder

I see the flavoured hot chocolates at Christmas , I've tried a few over the years , probably the Honey/Almond one is my favourite (Toblerone-y)

You can start collecting some nice big jars and get a deep wooden tray for it all .

It's a lovely idea

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/08/2023 13:30

My DS (23) likes the occasional hot chocolate , he's never in his life drunk tea or coffee .
He has standard milk (not soya)
I asked if you wanted HC or Cadbury he said "Don't be chintzy Mother it's Christmas , I;ll have the Hotel Chocolat one Xmas Grin "

No cream or flavours but he'll accept a Flake !

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/08/2023 15:51

TKMaxx/HomeSense often have the Spode mugs , and those double-wall heat proof coffee mugs . They keep drinks hot/cold and have the advantage that they hold less than you think (especially with hot chocolate so you don't overdo it)

Lidl often have the double-wall cups ( different sizes)
