I have an 8 year old and a 12 month old. In the years since DD was a toddler I seem to have forgotten what they like - what they get the most use out of. What has been somthing that your 12 month olds have enjoyed and lasted awhile? I've been looking at pinkler triangles but are they worth it? Do they get used enough to justify the floor space.

I seem to have gotten myself into a spiral. DS is probably going to just want the box anyway isn't he? 😆

In reality, he will love anything you get him.

We got our little girl a pikler triangle for her first Christmas but appreciated she might not get as much use out of it at that age - our living room is rather big though so floor space was never an issue for us.

To start with she used it for pulling up and hiding underneath as a den. We got her the slide/ball run attachment for her second Christmas and it's been used daily since then (she's 3.5 now).

Another idea if you want something like that is a wobble board, we got one for her first birthday and that's been a huge hit and takes less floor space as you can put it away a bit easier.

I generally looked at early Christmases and birthdays as a chance to get a slightly more expensive item I knew she'd get a lot of use out of later if not straight away 😂

Not anxious, more I want to get somthing that they'll get use out of. Not just getting somthing for the sake of somthing to open if that makes sence. The wobble board is a good shout! I'll have a look!

Climbing frame is good if you have space. Little table and chairs is a nice present they use for years. You can buy soft play sets. Our wooden bricks are still played with five years later. Tough trays are useful. Shakers and other percussion instruments.
