X Box

DS has an old x box one. It’s running slow and he’s been mentioning that for quite a while now so the plan is to get a new one for Christmas. We do spend a bit at Christmas as it’s just the 4 of us but I need to start saving now and consider deals such as Black Friday.

There seems to be several versions available now and I’m not sure which one to buy. He does downloads and has disc. Any suggestions?

My son has the xbox one s, its nice and small so doesnt take up loads of space and with it being the digital version you dont need to worry about disc's getting damaged or misplaced and less clutter!

I think there are only two you can buy (new) now. The series S or the series X.

Either are excellent but the main difference is that a Series S costs £250 and has no disc drive and the Series X costs £480 ish and has a disc drive. So really it depends on how much you want to spend.

My eldest two dc both had a series S last Xmas and when they've compared it to when they've played a friend's series X they've seen no difference, even though the X is supposed to be the more powerful one or better one.

I went for the S after much much research as it didn't seem worth the extra just for essentially a disc drive (which they'd hardly use as they get all their games digitally now).

As the mother of gamers you need to ask your son directly. They have expressed reasons for having a particular model and it isn't always the most recent.

My adult son has about 6/7 X boxes ( various generations ) and he likes the Series X better than the S .

This! But I believe they are now backwards compatible so If you have old discs and still want to use them get the X.

Also recommend a gold game pass as you get lots free.

The game pass includes Xbox live so it is about £4 more with loads of additional content.
