Cheap stocking fillers not tat

Hello fellow Christmas planners,

I have a small budget this year but want to give stocking fillers that the kids will want to keep, so nothing novelty that will break straight away.

Anyone have any ideas of stocking fillers which are cheap but not disposable?

Girls aged 2-9

Another suggestion (I think I got it from MN years ago), mini packs of cereal. My dc were always excited by these, and it was a Christmas breakfast treat.

A pot of play dough and toothbrush and toothpaste went down well with my toddler last Christmas.

Even essentials are exciting when they are in a stocking / wrapping paper!

Haha we always include a toothbrush in stockings! Along with all of the sweets and chocolate. We just say Father Christmas wants you to look after your teeth 🤣.

We do the toothbrushes and paste too, stockings are from father Christmas who seems to think it's fun to send the fancy colour change toothpaste they know I won't buy for them 😉
And snacks from our local asian supermarkets for something different.

PlayMobil blind bags are really good value and fun.
Sticky note packs.
Fun soaps

I always see lovely bits for a girl’s stocking in Home Bargains, TK Maxx and Primark…

Cute jewelled hair band
Hair bobbles/clips
Fun face mask sheet
Bath bombs x 2
Jelly beans
Chocolate coins in a fairy tin
Flavoured lip balms
Cute socks
Sparkly pen
Note book
Jewel face gems
Little compact mirror with initial on

I’ve got girls and I keep my eye on Claire’s, they do 5 sale items for £5 or £10 so I pick up bits like lip gloss, jewellery, hair stuff through the year.

I really hate tat, and only do small stockings so I love these threads because I find it hard.

I have 3 kids 11, 12 & 14. (Girl boy girl) none of them are into hair or make up or anything like that. I tried pop tarts one year and it didn't go down well 😆

Blutack and post it notes are usually a winner, but I think they have quite the supply now.

Mine are 21 and 23 , I only did stockings in the early years when DD would sleep in DS room on an airbed and they woke up at 5am with their stockings . We could hear them whispering , trying to be quiet and unwrapping ( Stocking Gifts were wrapped too)

Mine have a Dec 1st Box (underwear, stocks, pyjamas, loungewear , robe every other year, jar of sweets , Selection Box)
I used to make a Beauty Advent Calendar for DD which formed part of her presents but it got harder after 4 years to find things so I did a Beauty Box last year which she loved too

Sometimes the Stocking Gifts can be more like 'proper' gifts .

Box of pencils from hard to soft for graphic design
Guitar picks
Some mens' skincare
Fancy whitening toothpaste
One of those LabyBird Books for adults (Zombie Apocalypse type)

DD will tell me what she wants as main presents but I have free reign with her Beauty gifts .
Nail polish , lip balm, cuticle balm, eyelash serum, facemask, hand and footmasks , She has a Sock Advent Calendar (bought in Feb Xmas Grin

Not buying Chocolate Advents this year but they'll get Selection Boxes

DD always gets a Christmas mug too

My kids don't drink fizzy drinks, only on special occasions so as I treat we put a few of those mini cans of pop in their stockings😂😂

LauraSaidIShouldBeNicer · 25/07/2023 19:39

And other things obviously but now the mini cans are a must every year.

HyggeTyggeDotCom · 26/07/2023 16:38

last year i put in a stapler, cello tape dispenser and blu tac for my 6 year old and she loved them! Still uses them all the time

HyggeTyggeDotCom · 26/07/2023 16:39

They were cute pink/purple ones but still. Couldn’t believe how happy she was with those!

DelurkingAJ · 26/07/2023 16:43

From a stocking over 30 years ago I still have in my handbag a tiny mirror and a fold up comb/hair brush…possibly not for smaller people but the sentiment still applies.

Ponderingwindow · 26/07/2023 16:43

My go to filler is art supplies. I would be buying them anyway, so I don’t really feel like they count towards the Christmas budget.
