Looking for ideas on Christmas events for the whole family (3 DCs 5-11) for this Christmas. We are NW Lancashire, ideally don’t want to travel too far but will if need be.

Things we’ve done in the past:

Farmer Teds Ormskirk
Disney on Ice
Elf The musical
Santa Experience Thornton Hall
Santa Experience Ingolbury Caves
Santa Experience Houghton Tower

Any and all ideas and suggestions welcome.

It's the Christmas board, so all things Christmas are discussed all year.

Plus, this type of thing often goes on sale early in the year and you need to book early to get the date you want.

Preserved railway Santa specials at Lakeside, Preston, Bury, Embsay (skipton) and Keighley. They get booked up quickly.

Or see Santa in the Ingleton caves.

It sold out months ago. Every year I say I will get organised to try booking it, but always forget

Which is why im looking in June @KnickerlessParsons most Christmas events get sold out quickly earlier in the year.

tbf that's the only thing you really have to book so far in advance.

Enchanted Knowsley at the Safari Park and The Lanterns at Chester Zoo are both great!

We’ve done the caves but not the Santa railway (done the normal journeys) will check that out thanks.

We're doing this with our DS. We've been before on a 'normal' day and it's great so excited to see what's in store for Christmas.

Alton Towers Christmas. We've done it most years since it started. It's changed every year znd this years offering hasn't been released for sale yet. It usually consists of access to the theme park for smaller rides, visit to Santa guided by an elf in a wooded area or breakfast with santa and Mrs clause or meet santa in a tepee, evening meal and breakfast, night time entertainment, swimming and golf. The last couple of years there has been a Christmas Market and lightopia but lightopia has gone bust I believe. Precious years they've done panto's too which were always great.

It's the Christmas board. Many events release tickets in the summer and are sold out in a single day

What exactly is your problem here??

Humerushummus · 13/06/2023 11:42

@KnickerlessParsons and I booked my summer holiday back in January.

Some people are such dullards! 😂

Anyway, I'm following as our local Christmas event has sold out already and I missed the tickets being released. The Harry Potter thing looks good!

Is this an overnight event in the hotel?

I haven't been but Tulleys Farm (near Gatwick) looks good .
They do Hallowe'en and Pumpkin days too .

We went To Gullivers one Hallowe'en (Milton Keynes) they were tearing about on child friendly rides in fancy dress then a brilliant firework display . They also do Christmas themed events . (I think mine were 10 and 7.5 when we went )

Yes, sorry I should have put that. Standard room in either the AT hotel, the Splash landings hotel, cbeebies and sometimes the woodland lodges. You can pay to upgrade to a themed room etc.

I think last year they did a version which didn't include the swimming at a cheaper price too.

Legoland, Chessington and Warrick Castle all do something similar but the Alton Towers one seems to be the best value. Cost for entertainment.

They do sometimes let you pay for just the day in the park aswell.

I’ve just been looking, it looks good. We’ve been promising we would go to Alton Towers and Legoland this year so this could work, thanks x
