I do stockings for my dds and have done all their lives - they are now early twenties, late teens. It's their favourite part of Christmas.

I have three and like to get a few 'nice' things as well as some tat. Their stockings aren't huge so everything has to be quite small. Off to M and S today to see what I can find in the way of beauty travel sizes. Any suggestions welcome 🙏

Socks
Nail polish
Lip balm
Bath bomb
Gold collagen eye masks (these come in a big pack so you could get ome pack and split it)
Small but fancy box of chocolates e.g. from Hotel Chocolat
Book
Nice pen - perhaps engraved with their name
Diary for next year - I love the Papier pocket diaries - can get their names on
Flavoured gin miniature (can probably get a 3 pack and split it)

Great ideas thank you. A notebook with their name on is a definite 👍

I have already started stashing things away for my DSD 21s stocking - so far mostly cosmetic bits, gold Vaseline tin, sheet face masks, scrunchies etc.

I’ve picked up lots of bits from Home Bargains - lots of name branded toiletries at really good prices. They had some of the gold under eye patches in recently - only 50p a pack.

B&M is really good for unusual chocolate and sweets - e.g from USA/Australia if they might like a few things like that.

I have just started buying stocking stuff so not much yet, so far I have:

DS1:

  1. a 'rubix' cube (its coloured balls in a can but works on the same premise)
  2. glow in the dark shoe laces

DS2:

  1. marvel stickers
  2. travel spirograph
  3. gyroscope

DD:

  1. fiberoptic hair extentions
  2. bath toy

I dont have any teen girls though.

For DSs girlfriends' stockings I've found that buying a couple of beauty boxes (Next, Glossy Box, Ok, Look Fantastic etc) and separating them out worked cheaper than buying miniatures. Also meant there were brands or samples that I wouldn't have bought.

Vouchers for Costa etc, small candles etc also well received.

For a two year old, I’ve got a roll of colouring paper (a bit smaller than wallpaper roll sized - he has a big stocking) from IKEA for £7 odd. It’s printed with an under the sea theme and you just tear off as much as you want, crayons, a couple of hot wheels cars, bubble wands, some small bath toys that flash when they’re in water, spokie dokies and a bell to go on a little bike he’s getting and some other little bits I pick up here & there & he’ll have some chocolate buttons and a bottle of Matie bubble bath all to himself, where he can pour the whole bottle in if he wants and wicked aunty Nagado won’t ruin his life by only letting him have a little bit at a time.

For a couple of tweens, things like art supplies, stationery, make up and miniature toiletries (they’re apparently cooler if they’re travel sized), they’ll have some weird flavour Kit Kats from Japan and some sweets that are so sour they’re inedible. Scrunchies, hair wax, lip salves in different flavours and a homemade voucher each for a sleepover with aunty Nagado where they choose a takeaway, as many sweets as they can eat without being sick and as many age appropriate films as they can watch without falling asleep, then breakfast in a cafe the next day, which they will love.

Nagado · 08/06/2023 12:39

I should have read your post properly, obviously your DC aren’t going to be interested in spokie dokies and weird flavours of sweets!

ITSSSSCHRISTMASSS · 08/06/2023 22:54

One of my favourite stocking fillers last year was a cute little travel jewellery box with a nice mother daughter saying on it. I knew I’d love it when I saw it in a garden centre so bought it, gave it to my DH and told him to give it to my DDs to give to me 😁

Methenyouplus4 · 09/06/2023 07:08

Eldest DS is 18 si had lots of things, I haven't purchased yet, but plan to get ear bud out to clean headphones. A bit original so think he'll like but also use. In the past he's liked:

Mini versions of toiletries
Gregg's voucher
In shower speaker

Loads more but just woke up so brain not fully functioning yet!

They would definitely be interested in weird sweets! Thank you

This is what I've been doing for the last few years, I have two teenage dd, and two ds with girlfriends I do stockings for. I think it works really well.

I also keep an eye on the Boots tenner Tuesday offers each week, so far I have Philip Kingsley elasticizer, a Gillette Labs razor, some muscle recovery aromatherapy bath soak and ameliorate body cream.

The ASOS clearance sale is usually very good for accessories as well, great discounts.

CamdenLurker · 29/06/2023 17:37

Also urban outfitters sales are good too, I've picked up a candle for a few quid along with a wall hanging I'll roll up and put in a stocking - they were both ridiculously priced before going into the 70% off sale.

snowmanshoes · 03/07/2023 09:09

Agree with urban outfitters! Just posted on main bargain thread that they are doing their large cord tote bags (usually £22-£27) for a tenner TODAY ONLY!
Can vouch for them.

ColeslawSandwich · 29/07/2023 12:52

Bumping for some more ideas 😊

Fivemoreminutes1 · 29/07/2023 13:22

I'm starting to collect a few stocking for my three DC, including a teen and a tween.

DS(15)
VW van wash bag
Mini kalimba
Head massager
Gamer goo

DD(11)
Mini 'believe' book
Clip-in colourful hair extensions
Metallic outline pens
Novelty bath loofah

DD(5)
Bird water whistle
Novelty bath loofah
Serrated craft scissors
Rainbow slinky

Some ideas I'm reserving for nearer the time...sweets/choc, Christmas coal, candy floss, novelty pimple patches, skincare bits, earrings, Instax photo paper, bits for resin jewellery craft.

Previous hits have included small crossbody bag, small aftershave/perfume, slipper or thermal socks, purse, pretty origami paper.

At a family gathering recently, which included lots of teens, our extendable marshmallow toasting forks were universally loved! Thought I might get some along with s'mores bits as a gift for my nieces/nephews but good stocking fillers too!

CoffeeChocolateWine · 30/07/2023 09:25

Oh and pillow mist spray always goes down well with my DD.

snowmanshoes · 30/07/2023 12:28

Makeup setting spray is a good one that my dad likes and actually uses

snowmanshoes · 30/07/2023 12:28

Dd not dad lol

CornishGem1975 · 30/07/2023 14:07

Following this thread as I've decided to get started - stocking fillers are the bane of my life with 5 kids from 3-18, but I do love it. Feel like if I start now and spread the cost and the shopping, it will make it a lot easier!

snowmanshoes · 30/07/2023 12:28

Dd not dad lol

I did wonder, but hey it's 2023, anything goes!

NancyJoan · 08/08/2023 12:23

For my DD, the TK Maxx beauty dept always comes up trumps. Face masks, make-up sponges, teeny tubes of pawpaw cream, hair bands for face washing etc.

Furtivefig · 10/08/2023 14:43

Flying Tiger have some good stocking bits for all ages.
