Hope everyone is okay with me starting this new thread off. Thread 1 is at 992 so thought best get a new one up and running so we don't miss any bargains.

With thanks to @sideorderofchips for all your work keeping these prequel threads going. Hope everything is okay and you'll be joining us again soon to reclaim your fab threads.

The prequel threads are kept going through the year in the run up to @reastie taking over for the Christmas bargains threads late summer/autumn.

I can't vouch for this, but I always feel games are a good one to bulk out present piles, for under £4 looks good to me https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00004TFZG/ref=pe24436911818632421emm1p00_lm

Thank you for this, the reviews look good so I've bought a few for children's birthday party presents.

Flubadubba · 01/07/2023 16:44

This looks like a decent bargain (just over £4, but £13 elsewhere) for a stocking fillers and birthday parties

Unicorn version also discounted today (59% odd, so just over a fiver)
Aquabeads Decorator's Pouch (C: Unicorn) https://amzn.eu/d/7XhB0xr

Hungry hippos down to £10 too (seen aat £20 and £15 elsewhere)

Has anyone any suggestions where I could get a rock/mineral finding set from? My soon to be 6yo is in to identifying rocks and minerals but the national geographic set on Amazon has quite mediocre reviews. Found another box of 200 bits to identify but it's apparently quite small and some people are saying there is just a lot of dust!

I don't want a polished set in a display, rather a load he can sort through. And I need it for October as instead of asking father he has decided he wants it for his birthday 🤷🏼 thank you ☺️

It might be worth sending Stone Science a message on Facebook - they have loads of cool stuff in their shop and may be able to sort exactly what you want with some genuine and fair priced specimens.

for what it’s worth we’ve had some national geographic fossil/mineral dig kits and they’ve been perfectly fine, albeit not really magnificent pieces or anything x

Is anyone else seeing a ‘featured on mumsnet’ banner on all of the recent Amazon posts?

OKwhatsNext · 01/07/2023 19:22

Thank you @Famousthehero that's really helpful. I had looked at the nat geo and this one which I thought was fair, so not sure if it's a case of people only writing mixed reviews iyswim.

Maybe I will stick with nat geo for this year and see what he's into for next year (if at all)

Yes I have noticed this too when I click through the links

LostMyRubySlippers · 01/07/2023 19:52

Character.com have a big sale on- lots of pjs around £3 mark plus other items cheaper than this.

Lands End have an extra 30% off their sale- code on their website. Makes it a really good reduction on some items. There’s a mixture of summer stuff but also Xmas/ winter pjs, some velour dresses that might be nice over Xmas & also some big reductions on winter coats

You may want to look on the UKGE website. They do lots of great fossils, rocks, minerals....even meteorites. I've bought a few times from them and they've always been great.

The kit you’ve linked looks good to me! The Nat geo ones we have had have been on the small side, so that kit looks better value (maybe not all nat geo ones are as small as the fossil/mineral dig kits though). Reviews seem to be that it’s genuine as well - there are loads of cheap kits that just have rubbish coloured glass etc

MerylSqueak · 01/07/2023 21:09

UKGEare amazing. I love having an excuse to buy from there.

10in10 · 01/07/2023 22:57

Thanks for this .. I checked camelcamel and it looks like this is the lowest price. I just bought on a whim for my 7 year old!! The reviews look pretty good so I'm hopeful it'll be a good main present!!

10in10 · 01/07/2023 22:59

The lottie doll tree house is half price on Amazon. My daughter got lots of play out of of this .. it would make a good main present !!

Famousthehero · 02/07/2023 06:55

If anybody were making a Lottie gift as above there are some of the dolls with 40% off in the Bigjigs sale - it’s a bit of a trawl as they’re not labelled as Lottie dolls, but I’m pretty sure they are

Oh is it @10in10 I've not checked camel camel. Good info thanks.
My DD will be 9 in oct so I'm thinking for her birthday or Xmas. She loves music. She & her dad listen to Friday night bangers every week so I think she will have fun with it.

snoozingbaby1476 · 02/07/2023 11:32

I've ordered at that price to put away for her birthday. Thank you

gawditswindy · 02/07/2023 15:09

Checking in. July means it's time to start shopping!

Are mumsnet now turning links into affiliate links for commission?

Have just started adding things to my list so will be actively following this thread / the Christmas bargains one for the next six months!

Good reductions on the bigger Gravitrax starter sets at John Lewis - a couple of them are 50% off. https://www.johnlewis.com/search?search-term=Gravitrax

Those next beauty boxes look great. The sleep one with the neom candle would be a gorgeous gift

I can't see the sleep one?

snoozingbaby1476 · 02/07/2023 20:47

@Yoyoyo1 it's gone now. It was £15 but it had a neom travel candle in it which was what appealed to me. I didn't order though as i had my sensible head on.

Givealittlebit · 02/07/2023 21:45

Officially rejoining prequel threads! Baby 3 arrived 2 weeks ago, so planning for Christmas on maternity leave pay again 😬
Fingers crossed I can be as organised as possible!

That’s what I suspected! Not sure why else it’s showing that banner

Urban Outfitters have their large cord tote bags for £10 today only. Various colours/patterns. I don’t know any teens (or older) that don’t think these are fab!
Yes there’s delivery but absolutely worth it if have several to buy and a good quality present for a tenner. Can vouch for them as bought several in the past myself!
