I’ve said in a previous post that I love watching certain movies around this time of year.
today we watched
ET
bedknobs and broomsticks
the goonies

watching chitty chitty bang bang on Saturday, gonna watch Willy wonka and the chocolate factory tomorrow.

I love when we play cards on Christmas Day evening
i love the buffet I do on boxing day
i love the trying to find places for the new stuff we always do on 27th
even though it almost kills me, I love the early morning on Christmas Day when the dc are super excited.

what have you loved?

My presents were an absolute nostalgiafest.

For years I've been telling DD about a game I got for Christmas on 1982 called Cue Ball. It's this really basic, old fashioned handheld snooker game which I was obsessed with as a child and it was my star present that Christmas.

DD only went and tracked a perfect condition, boxed one down for me. I cried buckets when I unwrapped it. I honestly felt ten again. It was one of the most thoughtful presents I've ever had.

She also knows that when I was a teenager all I wanted was a moonphase watch, but money was tight and I never got one. Guess what else she bought me?

Similarly DH knew that I wanted a silver charm bracelet when I was younger but never had one. He found me a vintage one with a beautiful filigree padlock, hallmarked the year I was born. And also a Welsh rose gold ring - I'm Welsh but have lived in England for 30 years, so it was a huge nostalgia hit for home. For the Welsh contingent here, you'll know what I mean when I say the hiraeth hit hard!

Lots of good tears this Christmas!

Oh and I managed to find some 'proper' 70s style fairy lights - the little flower shades and the pink/amber/green/turquoise/red warm colours. They have upped the nostalgia massively!

Snowball in a martini glass

May I ask @WhatFreshHeII for a link to those fairy lights - or were they were a one-off on eBay?

I splashed out on some lights from Robert Dyas - the ones I put up are so blinding they actually hurt to look at! I sort of forgot about the LED issues on the Christmas lights thread!

I love watching family films/Disney films from Boxing Day onwards. I always watch The Bee Movie as now can't wait till spring lol

However today for some reason I am currently sat watching Christmas with the Kranks lol I never watch Xmas films normally after Boxing Day. Think I'm clinging on to the last days of achristmas this year lol

These from Aldi

They're LED but they're much more muted and warm than usual LEDs. They also had the smaller flower shade ones, too. I paid about £15 but my local Aldi currently has them for £6.99.

I bought 2 packs - 200 was easily enough for my 7ft tree, but I also put 400 warm white ones on, too. The contrast is beautiful.

Thanks @WhatFreshHeII !

Gds’ school Nativity play was a traditional one, with all the characters, and the kids singing proper carols, instead of rubbish songs nobody’s ever heard before. ‘‘Twas lovely.🎄🎅🏻

Watched Morecambe and Wise on Christmas Day.

Had my annual little cry when I put up the Christmas decorations my grown-up sons made when they were tiny.

Watched Mary Poppins and Scrooge (the one with Alistair Sim).

When I was a child in the 1950s, we sometimes had ‘indoor fireworks’. When our DSs were small we occasionally bought them but not recently.,
This year I found them on Amazon; they were just the same, unspectacular and underwhelming, but everyone enjoyed them. For me anyway, nostalgic.
