Hosting for the first time next year...activities to fill time on Christmas Day for adults?

Hi all,

As per the title myself and my partner will be hosting my parents and sister for the first time on Christmas Day next year. My parents are quite introverted and don't do a lot of social conversation so I'm looking for any suggestions for any fun activities we could do on Christmas Day to keep everyone occupied, which could become a nice tradition.

Thanks!

We share puzzles and riddles, and usually play at least one board game.

A walk after Christmas Dinner - even if the weather is terrible!

We have printed quizzes - this year i did guess the film titles using emojis. My mum sometimes photocopies tje big crossword from the radio times so that people can all see and mull it over in their own time, but completionnis a joint effort. I have also seen families who set up a big jigsaw on a table and people can just come and go and contribute as much as they want to it. We also do the traditional raucous games such as articulate.

Leave them alone to relax! Everyone comes together for a pre-lunch drink and then lunch. After that you make coffee and chocolates available in another room - but everyone scatters to do as they choose: walk, sleep, read, TV.

You can of course leave photograph albums, board games, VR headsets, and excellent new books / magazines lying around. Spare wellies if you have decent walks nearby. People may pick them up if they feel inclined. But organised jollity is hell. Don’t do it.

800 or 1000 piece jigsaw to do together. Honestly. All generations can get involved, dip in and out as they please and good for introverts as there's less pressure on small talk
