Other than the usual wrap in advance and prep veg the night before, I just wondered if anyone might have any that they find work to make Christmas run more smoothly.

Mine are:
Stockings live downstairs, I just can't manage sneaking into bedrooms to fill them.
My friend does the two identical stocking swap but I think that even that is beyond me.

I always put a carton of orange juice and a cereal bar or individual croissant etc in the top of the stockings.
DC don't do well if they don't eat and they can eat these while they open stocking presents on our bed.

Different wrapping paper for each child. Saves any mix ups.

I'm sure that there are loads of much better ones. 🎄☃️🤶

Years ago, in a February, I bought a bunch of cheap Christmas fabric simple Christmas bags. Wrapping presents is now a doddle.

Take the DC put for a long walk (up a steep hill for extra points) on the afternoon of Christmas Eve to tire them out.

Prep as much of the dinner as possible the night before. Write a schedule so I know what needs to happen & when (eg turkey in oven, roast potatoes on to cook etc) and set alarms in phone for all of these so I don't get distracted and miss any. Wrap everything before kids have broken up from school. Fresh air / walk to see local houses lit up with Xmas lights. Bin bags out ready for gathering the mountain of wrapping paper in the morning.

If you are a single parent make your own traditions for the years your children aren't with you.

For me, Christmas eve once DD has gone to her dad's I always nip to M&S for a dinner roulette as they reduce their prices (absolute carnage tonight though so didn't pick up much). Christmas day I enjoy a grown up christmas resting, eating my favourite foods, watching what I want and looking at the sales. On years DD is at her dad's I often leave some of the nice to have presents and see if I can pick them up cheaper in the sale its a habit I formed when I had less disposable income and its stuck. Anything she would be upset not to receive I buy beforehand.
Boxing day I nip to Next and Boots to take advantage of their sales and pick up the normally over priced gift sets as stocking fillers.

We shift the whole Christmas period a few days so she's got time to relax back at home and she doesn't like big Christmas meals close together and prefers a break so our Christmas will be on Thursday this year, this also gives time for Sale purchased things to arrive or I just give at New Year's instead.

Santa doesn't wrap in our house. Stockings are hung on the mantelpiece. Kids go to bed. I bring all presents out of hiding and put them in stockings. Each stocking gets a part of sofa or armchair to now lie on with bigger presents surrounding. Doesn't take very long at all and then I can binge on rubbish food and telly for a couple of hours.

We have a dance party in the kitchen. Wears the little buggers right out.
