Help me with alcohol choices

DH and I aren’t big drinkers at all. Maybe a few times a year at most. We’re not hosting anyone for Christmas dinner but have various groups of family/friends popping in to visit over this weekend/next week and would like to be able to offer them tea/coffee/soft drinks/alcoholic drinks.

What would you have in as a basic alcohol selection? If I get some white wine, red wine, fizz and beers, would that be enough of a selection for most people? Can anyone give any pointers for decent safe options to have in in terms of brands etc?

Im talking 7/8 lots of friends/family for a couple of hours each at most, nobody will be here for meals. I feel like there’s too many people to ask what they all like to drink 😅

That sounds like a good selection; I would get some Prosecco, Sauvignon blanc, maybe a Tempranillo or a Syrah which is are easy reds. Maybe Peroni lagers

Bucks Fizz is always fun at Christmas too; you can get it premixed at marks and Spencer or buy some orange juice to add to the Prosecco

I would also get some gin, I personally think tanqueray is liked by many. Grab some fevertree tonic, slice of lime and you're good to go.
I think wine and beers you've suggested sounds fine. Have a lovely Christmas 😊

Depends on the wine. Some aren't nice or arent good for drinking without food.

Spirits are safer as people can pick their mixers.

I'd try to make it more Christmassy by having baileys/ cocktails etc.

I’d have some Baileys in too, but no need to buy spirits if it’s not going to get drunk. Just run with red/white wine and lager.

Keep it simple, just have sparkling wine, nearly everyone will drink that.

I find the PPs bizarre suggesting people who don’t drink should start offering a range of cocktails.

Thanks for your help everyone 😊 it’ll be during the day most likely rather than in the evening as we have young children so literally will be an hour or 2 here and there 😊 so it’s just to be able to offer something 😊 definitely not going to the extent of spirits and cocktails as they’ll just go to waste 😊

Have picked up some red/white/fizz and some beers/ciders 😊 hopefully that’ll be enough of a choice for anyone wanting an alcoholic drink 🤞🏼

Oh, and a bottle of Baileys too! I actually do quite like that myself 😊
