Eco friendly (or no) wrapping

I absolutely know I'm being utterly unreasonable and my generation is one of the main reasons we are in the global crisis, but I have felt absolutely no joy in wrapping my (adult) children's presents in re-used paper and brown paper with string, even using stamps etc. Unreasonable, but I just want some glitter and shiny stuff. I'll be over it by tomorrow but just needed to moan.

What about gift bags. You could get really nice ones and reuse them over and over. Maybe even fabric ones?

DancingSober · 22/12/2022 21:52

You can also use fabric wrapping 'paper' and ribbon 🎀

There’s lots of recyclable wrapping paper that is colourful

We have accumulated a huge stash of gift bags over the years (DH's family all use them) and started using them instead of just shoving them in a cupboard a couple of years ago. Total gamechanger, wrapping takes about 1/4 of the time it used to and no waste. They are a gloriously random and multi-coloured collection.

We use gift bags and have done for years. Some are still going strong after 10 years and it's getting to be an in family joke now as to who is going to get it each year.

Last year I discovered a slightly different type, which are more like wrapping paper but have ribbon that you pull tight to seal them (you tie the ribbon in a bow). Total game changer as it makes wrapping so much quicker and easier.

I do keep all the gift bags. That's a good idea about making it into a family thing/joke!
