About 60 if you include stocking gifts. Approx 30 regular gifts and 30(ish) stocking fillers. Big family, plus various others that we give something to for either historical or transactional reasons. It's got a bit out of hand really but totally manageable if I wrap at least one regular gift per day, and then one day I sit down and do all the stocking stuff in one go.

I actually love Christmas shopping and start in October. I appreciate that this makes me a bit odd.

Just realised this is a massive underestimate as the 30 regular gifts are often multi-part gifts. I buy gifts for about 30 people and sometimes it's just a single item (eg book or box of chocolates) but for family members it's often multiple items (eg book plus chocs plus gloves/toy/clothing item or whatever).
Sometimes I wrap everything for one person in a single parcel, but usually I wrap each item individually and then stack them together and wrap ribbon around the stack. Mostly because I actually find it easier to wrap a bunch of individual items than an awkwardly shaped pile of loose items. Plus I like brown paper packages tied up with string!!
So I try to wrap at least one person's gifts each day in Dec and that way I keep on top of it.

Finished wrapping mine mid-November. <Smug>

I only have my own kids to wrap for, stepmother has already received her gifts in a gift bag.

I'm really poorly right now - if this doesn't shift soon, no way would I be in the right space to wrap in the next few days. Am also a single parent, so I used a weekend they were with their father to get it all done.

Theres a woman on my facebook group offering to wrap up peoples presents for a bottle of wine or a tin of biscuits.

Reader, I nearly bit her fucking hand off.

I think I may offer to do this next year!

I largely wrap as I go. I usually have most of it done by mid December at latest and I make sure its all done before end of school term.

There is nothing worse than wrapping gifts on Christmas Eve.

My DH loves Xmas and has wrapped every year for 36 years - I’m “allowed” to do labels 😂 - bless him he’s been wrapping for days! Not complaining at all 😄

Daisy62 · 20/12/2022 15:22

Gift bags all the way. All my family do this, so we end up with bags that circulate around. I often wrap the item loosely in tissue paper (no sellotape, so the tissue can be reused) before it goes in the bag.

BlackAmericanoNoSugar · 20/12/2022 15:32

I fabric wrap most of my gifts, it's much quicker than paper and sellotape. I am a quilter so I do have lots of lovely fabric on hand, and a metre of quilting fabric is roughly a square.

I paper wrap for kids because they like ripping open the presents and I either bag or paper wrap gifts that will be leaving the house because I wouldn't get the fabric back if I used that.

I love wrapping!
House to myself, all my wrapping paraphernalia spread out on the dining table, a Christmas movie on or Christmas music - I love it!
I'm a very logical person so I love using the most efficient cuts of wrap with nice neat corners, with lovely co-ordinating ribbons and bows.

DilemmaDelilah · 20/12/2022 15:33

I did all mine at the beginning of December. OH has been saying for the last week that he needs to wrap mine. I have just sent him upstairs to do it. I work from home and he is retired, so he has had all day to do it when I've been n working, plus I was in hospital for 5 days a couple of weeks ago so he could have done it then. I'm fed up of him saying he needs to do it and then not doing it!

WonderingWanda · 20/12/2022 15:35

I feel your pain my dd and I are both ill so my plan to get all the wrapping done over the weekend has gone out the window.

Wiloswisp · 20/12/2022 15:36

Anyone who is here for Christmas gets their gift in a gift bag, with tissue paper scrunched gently in the top to hide the gift. Strict instructions that they stay here and I Carefully flatten them and use them time and time again.

I also made some fabric bags from Christmas fabric a few years ago which are basically like paper bags with a ribbon sewn into the seam to wrap round to close them. These have lasted better than the thicker paper bags.

both make gift wrapping very quick.

in November I try and remember to cut up last year’s Christmas cards for labels, but I often re use last years if they are still attached to the above bags.

CornedBeef451 · 20/12/2022 15:37

For any presents in the house I use cloth bags or scarves.

It's so easy and quick, no faffing with tape or cutting paper and then once opened you just chuck them back in the box for next time, no worrying about what's recyclable or not.

BigSandyBalls2015 · 20/12/2022 15:59

DH loves wrapping and so does 21 year old DD, thankfully!

wickerhearth · 20/12/2022 16:00

Just get some fancier Xmas boxes and stick a wee ribbon on the lid, job done.

Yabado · 20/12/2022 16:05

Reusable foil Xmas bags on Amazon
lots of different size I get the ones that have xtra large - to small size and you get 30 so five of each different size for about £10

I have been using these for years 😂
you just Chuck the present in tie it with the ribbon and put a tag on it done in 5 seconds no scissors cellotape needed

I did all mine in about 30 mins or so a few weeks ago and I had a lot of presents

if you pop into Poundland they have amazing large cloth type ones with either Father Christmas or Reindeers on for £1

BatshitCrazyWoman · 20/12/2022 16:14

I love wrapping, would do other people's for a cup of tea and a slice of cake 😂

If you hate it, do a few each day, and use reusable gift bags/lightly scrunched tissue paper/fabric - make it easier for yourself!

Oysterbabe · 20/12/2022 16:27

I really don't find it too much of a chore. DH did it all one go last night. Only took a couple of hours and it's quite satisfying.

mam0918 · 20/12/2022 19:48

I dont get the gift bag suggestion.

I mean don't get me wrong they can be great for generic gifts during the year (birthdays etc...) for adults but they whole point of wrapped gifts for kids at xmas is that ripping the paper off moment.

The little draw string gift bags (which we use for 12 days) are not remotely the same.

I suppose the paper sweet bags could work but I doubt I could get any big enough for 90% of the gifts.
