My little one is getting a want, wear, need, read from santa and we were planning to get him his first shoes (he's almost 16 months) but they won't have them in until January so we can't do that now and need to think of something right now!!

He's got -
Want - toy drum
Wear - cocomelon pjs
Read - bluey board book

Please help with ideas!! I know he won't care, know or remember before anyone says that but I will 🤷‍♀️🙈🤣

CalloohCallayFrabjousDay · 19/12/2022 15:29

ODFOx · 19/12/2022 15:29

Little backpack for going on outings?
Lunchbox
Grolamp ( or any bedroom lamp)

ErrolTheDragon · 19/12/2022 15:30

Only you know what he actually needs. Any clothes he's nearly outgrown that need replacing? Consumables of some sort (edible or bath foam etc)?

dampthursday · 19/12/2022 15:31

A nice new bedding set?

Avrenim · 19/12/2022 15:31

Shampoo, soap, baby toothbrush, comb/brush set....maybe bought separately and all wrapped up nicely with shredded tissue in a hamper basket type thing? Or nice little hat and mittens?

ODFOx · 19/12/2022 15:37

Woolly hat and gloves

SugarCookieMonster · 19/12/2022 15:57

Asda sell little back packs with a removable lead. This was amazing when DS was toddling and in the fiercely independent, ‘No’ stage!

TheNoodlesIncident · 19/12/2022 16:10

Bath toys? Reins? Sleeping bag? Lunchbag?

CoffeeChocolateWine · 19/12/2022 17:52

Any educational toy...al children need them! Shape sorter, peg puzzle, threading toy...

OddshoesOddsocks · 19/12/2022 18:17

Dd2 (7) has a bike helment and dd3(2) has wellies for their ‘need’ presents

CrapBucket · 19/12/2022 18:19

A drinking cup/beaker with a Christmas pattern on, you can take his picture drinking milk or hot chocolate from it every year. You say he won't remember but he sort of will. And you have photo evidence.

Hat and gloves is a good shout. If your DC is anything like mine, they can never have too many as they seemed to get lost all the time when mine were toddlers

Mumof2tobe · 19/12/2022 18:56

Toy chest

Coffeetable123 · 19/12/2022 18:58

Is it just me that wraps up any old thing for my kids (as well as “proper” gifts)? I’d be wrapping up nappies, wipes, ella’s kitchen pouches, rice cakes …. I generally subscribe to having lots of things to open is more fun than what’s inside!

Vinylloving · 19/12/2022 19:01

Next size up sleeping bag? An educational toy that helps with a specific age appropriate skill? A little ride on toy? New wellies? A splash suit?

noscoobydoodle · 19/12/2022 19:09

My kids always get pjs, dressing gown and slippers- it's a Xmas tradition !

noscoobydoodle · 19/12/2022 19:11

Hm just read you have pjs already.... My DS had a lovely children's farm bubble bath set and new bath toys when he was 1.

Where's this want, wear, need, read thing come from? I've never heard it before this Christmas but it seems to be all over MN this year.

I'd be strongly inclined to forget about a 'need' present. Your child won't have a clue about any of this and won't remember. It probably doesn't seem like it to you now, but neither will you in a few years time. My children are adults now and I can scarcely remember a single Christmas present I bought them (or that I received myself in childhood). What I do remember is a happy family atmosphere and just enjoying the break together.
