Help! Hard to buy for friend I’m at a total loss!

She’s my neighbour and we’re quite friendly, help each other with childcare have a very occasional meal out.

Budget is £30. But I still don’t know her that well on a personal level so don’t know what kind of make up/ products etc she uses for example.

She’s into exercise and healthy eating but she has all the equipment she needs and wouldn’t eat food type presents. She’s stopped drinking. She doesn’t have too much stuff in her house so don’t want ornaments/tat. I think she reads but no idea the genre.

I could go voucher, but just seems so lame! And for where?!

She is a single parent and I know she is getting us something so feel like I have to reciprocate.

help!

How about some nice herbal teas or posh non alcoholic cordials. Some of them are very tasty

Justmuddlingalong · 14/12/2022 21:32

An indulgent bubble bath/shower gel. Molton brown maybe?

strawberryblue · 14/12/2022 21:33

Have you seen the no gin gin? It's actually quite nice. And if she's just stopped drinking
Might be nice (together with something)

DandelionPockets · 14/12/2022 21:39

A fun jigsaw with unusual picture?

minidancer · 14/12/2022 21:41

A hello fresh voucher

Chilloutt · 14/12/2022 21:44

A nice scarf to keep her warm? A voucher for Waterstones? A nice candle? (although some people despise them!)

KronkeyCroc · 14/12/2022 21:50

Thanks for all your suggestions so far! If all else fails I think I’ll go candle and voucher. I think I’ve left it too late with the postal strikes to get anything online.

I seem to know what she won’t like but not what she would 🤦🏻‍♀️

I would do a stocking, pair of socks, lovely shower gel, paperback of the Victoria Hislop type, small bar of Lindt or similar, and a scratch card. All wrapped. Single parents often don’t get presents. I know you said healthy, but a little bar of chocolate is so nice!

Sugarfree23 · 14/12/2022 22:17

Flowers?

crumpet · 14/12/2022 22:18

The idea of a stocking is a fun one

Sewaccidentprone · 14/12/2022 22:18

A plant?

jocktamsonsbairn · 14/12/2022 23:19

I'm a single mum and yep
I'd love a stocking/hamper thing or would absolutely love a voucher for a full body massage which you can get here for £30. Especially if you offered to have the kids for her to enjoy it!
Hamper:
Book/nice magazine
Aldi florentines
She wouldn't like my ideals of wine/Baileys etc so skip those 😂
Nice/luxury bubble bath and/or shower gel
Woollen ear muff band thing sporty types seem to like in winter

TreadSoftlyOnMyDreams · 15/12/2022 00:03

Winter running gloves
Babysitting / pet sitting vouchers
Nice herbal teas
Garden centre vouchers
Luxury gardening gloves. Godsend.

I hate bubble bath/shower gel stuff but I love luxury soap. Lasts for ages and kinder to the environment. If she loves a bath that's different though.

underthemike · 15/12/2022 00:22

A lovely plant in a nice pot?

Posh candle?

KronkeyCroc · 15/12/2022 08:07

The little stocking idea is very cute thank you! The massage idea is a great one too actually. I may go with that and offer to babysit.

Im kicking myself for being so unorganised as some of these suggestions are lovely but we live rurally and I just don’t think I’m going to have time to travel to the shops and trawl for things.

OK. If I get time to shop I think I’ll go little stocking with nice bits and bobs suggested. And if not I will go massage voucher.

Thanks so much everyone!
