Last year I posted about losing one of a set of little angels which my DMum had given me many years ago, and how upset I was.
Our lovely DIL found some on the US version of EBay, and despite extortionate
postage costs she had them delivered to my house.
Posters agreed that she is indeed a lovely and thoughtful DIL, and wished us all a happy Christmas.
We did have a very good time. DIL’s Brazilian mum stayed with us plus DS1 and their DGS, with other DGCs and DS2 and his DP.
Here is what she posted afterwards on FB:
This time it was an English Christmas.
Here, on Christmas Eve, people also gather in their homes with their family as it happens in Brazil, but the real celebration is on the 25th. In the morning, everyone wearing Christmas Jumper (Christmas sweater) exchange gifts and cards, later during lunch, almost dinner because here 4 pm is already getting dark, the traditional turkey with vegetables, some other vegan dishes, And last for dessert, Christmas Pudding, Christmas cake, and other goodies. I prepared some sweets, brigadeiros, made of coconut and cheese. They were a success.
The ritual of the traditional Pudding is interesting, it is flambered and then served with whipped cream and brandy butter all carefully prepared by our host.
After everyone's satisfied, a prank was made on Christmas Crackers. The cracker is an old English tradition. It is in the size of a giant candy, filled with surprises and freebies, it also has charts and questions. Each one takes theirs and the neighbor's, crossing arms and everyone pulls at the same time slapping. Very interesting . There's no way we do it, the prayers and not the party that all Brazilians usually do. Had the grandson as the center of attention at the party. 😍
Each place with its different customs and traditions Gratitude to dear A and T for the impeccable hospitality. 💖
We were glad she enjoyed it. We spent Christmas with her family in Brazil when DGS was christened, and were also interested in the difference between the two national festivities.and nice to know how much the crackers were appreciated.
