A gift for teens to 'do' on Christmas

I always try to get my teens (DD 16 and DS 15) something to keep them busy and to 'do' on Christmas day.
I have got my DD a jewellery making set and a sticker book.
I have zero ideas for my DS!
Does anyone have any good ideas please?

Lego? I'm just about to order my DD a Lego set, she loves it.

Have a look at Ugears and Robotime 3d wooden model kits. Some of the cheapest kits start at around £10. Cubic Fun and Wrebbit 3d also do great model kits.
Other ideas: origami, paint by sticker, escape room game or extreme dot to dot book.

Lego.

There’s a 16+ range.

I got DS a skeleton one for his birthday.

Journals, adult colouring in books, sketch pad, art supplies.

I got my DD a cadburys chocolate house to assemble

SmileyClare · 12/12/2022 14:01

Will your 16 year-old be interested in a sticker book?

I'd suggest a gingerbread house kit- no cooking required it just has to be assembled and decorated.

That said, I have teens who are quite happy glued to their phones. They might join in a family game e.g. charades under some duress.

I love a sticker book!

TreacsPotNoodle · 12/12/2022 14:10

3d puzzle?

You can get cars, Harry Potter, aeroplanes etc so can cater it to what he likes?

Hopemax · 12/12/2022 14:11

Lego!

Ciri · 12/12/2022 14:14

Mine would think I'd lost the plot if I gave them a sticker book!

boxbollen (although Im getting nervous about their delivery times..)
journal 29 escape room book

Airfix
Paper planes book (some are quite fiddly)

I always get my teens a game they can play together (usually card based), this year its richard osman house of games. Previous years sussed, uno, pack of playing cards, chess and more or less game.

EarthlyNightshade · 12/12/2022 14:28

Thanks for that. I now have boxbollen on the way.

mondaytosunday · 12/12/2022 14:32

Pretty much what I thought...

SirenSays · 12/12/2022 14:35

Pottery wheel. Adult colouring book. Polymer clay.

Stompythedinosaur · 12/12/2022 15:18

My dds aren't quite teens, but I've got them a set of lego flowers to make so they have something to do on Christmas day.

I always used to get a jigsaw from DM for this reason.

Nothing beats lego, it's a joy at any age.

FunctionalSkills · 12/12/2022 15:49

A switch game works here. Physical /interactive etc.

Lots of us don't like Lego... I really don't get why mumsnet tout it as the perfect gift, I don't know anyone who like Lego in the real world.

It seems to be very specific to the nostalgia of the few that got it as kids themselves.

CheeseIsMyPatronus · 12/12/2022 15:57

Wow, really? All 3 of mine loved it into adulthood, I love it, DH does, my Dad loves it (bought him a set for this Chirstmas) and my nieces and nephews asked for it when they were smaller.

When they were younger we had 3 six-foot Trofasts full of Lego. All their friends were similarly into Ninjago or Bionicles and even the slightly annoying Lego Friends (minifigs are better than the Friends figurines).

I thought Lego was pretty much a universal hit.
