Has anyone used a delivered Christmas meal box?

This year we are quite short on prep time and for Christmas day it's just DH and I and our 3 young children who will probably want toast for lunch...

I've been thinking about trying to get a box delivered with everything prepped in it. A bit like Gousto/Hello fresh but the Christmas meal.

I've seen fodabox and farmison ones by Googling. Any recommendations?

I know there's cook frozen stuff too but for some reason I find the idea of frozen a bit weird.

It's all reasonably expensive so I don't want to make the wrong choice.

Yes we had the Gousto one for Christmas dinner last year. It was pretty good, we were a bit underwhelmed with the desert so would consider replacing that next time but otherwise it did make everything a lot easier.

The year before last we had the Morrisons be, which was just perfect. The right combination and the right amounts and even included cheese crackers and chutney. Unfortunately they didn’t do it last year. This year I have ordered from Tescos, but following with interest to see what is recommend by others.

Yes last year we had one from Dishpatch, and this year I'm getting a beef Wellington from them!

Could you use m&s? I’ve gotten them a few times for Christmas and there’s basically no prep!

We had a gousto one last year, it wasn’t great but was really very easy to prepare and cook. I wouldn’t use it again as it wasn’t special enough and the veg wasn’t up to scratch… carrots a bit soft that sort of thing.

Thanks all! I'll take a look and see. I like Morrisons as a shop so they would be good if they did it. We might end up with a trip to M&S but our local one is a pain to park at and is constantly heaving and due to work we only have Christmas eve available for shopping.

Thanks, hope everyone has a nice Christmas 🙂

Two years ago (the covid Christmas) we had a frozen 3 bird roast, frozen Brussel sprout gratin, frozen goose fat roasties, frozen prepared red cabbage, frozen mixed roasting veg, all from Lidl. Was so easy. This year it's 11 for dinner Confused

An independent restaurant near me does this, you collect it all ready prepared on Christmas Eve and all you need to do is reheat it the following day. They provide instructions and I think it is £35 per head including a bottle of wine.
Worth looking at restaurants local to you to see if any do similar rather than use a big company.

I get Hello Fresh for normal meals but their advertisement of the Christmas box didn't seem that impressive to me. Considering it's around £20 - £25 a head, looking at the ingredients they are very basic and you have to cook everything yourself. You can definitely get a bunch of raw ingredients and a turkey for a fraction of the cost.

The only caveat to that is I really want to try their sprout gratin it sounds really good!

Just to second Dishpatch. I know the value will vary depending on where you are but they're decent value for us, good quality, and easy to prepare.

My DSis hosted a Hello Fresh Christmas dinner a couple of years ago and it was absolutely delicious, we all loved it. It was very labour intensive Christmas Eve and Christmas Day though.

One year I was on my own, and ordered a Simon Rogan at home box. Pricey but good.
