Please help. I need a present idea for an employee/friend. I’ve already got her a few bits but as she has no family, I wanted her to have a few things to open.

She’s in her 40s, likes nice brands and luxury type items, doesn’t drink, is always on a diet of some description, has a dog she walks…

I’ve got a small budget of around £25 but I’d like to get her something nice to round off her presents.

Any and every idea welcome!

Great ideas. Thank you.

I’ve just been reminded by some of the ideas that she is quite spiritual (not really my scene) but something along those lines, crystals, positivity, meditationy stuff might be quite nice for her.

Some nice gloves

If she’s a thin dog Walker she’ll need them and they constantly go missing. Or maybe nice welly/walking socks

If you aren’t into crystals or whatever she’s into in that sphere then you aren’t likely to make a good choice.

I'd get her a good book.

An umbrella - you can get some really pretty ones and they're always useful in this house!

A Crimpit - perfect for a dieter. And I second the gloves.

What about a mindfulness journal?

Speaking as a woman of a certain age, you can have too many scented candles. There are only so many times you can open a present, be faced with yet another candle or room diffuser, and think ooh goody, just what I always wanted. 😂

Yep mine go straight to charity even my daughter has put on her work wish list no candles. Must have 20 in her cupboard.

Every time someone thinks about buying a candle as a gift they should have to watch this video from a skit show in the US. It has Emma Stone and the wonderful Aidy Bryant.

the same is true for any hand cream or shower gel gift set.

things I have received that I enjoyed
terrarium kit
truffle hot sauce
amigurumi crochet kit
really nice yarn to make a scarf

Candles are the equivalent to buying socks.

Clarins candle trio, they smell lovely, you get three candles for £25 and looks like a lovely gift. There’s three scents, go with Eau dynamisante (red one)

Does she enjoy reading? How about some book vouchers?

Elizabeth Scarlett everyday pouch 👌🏼

Second a voucher for a treatment - a mani or pedi. That would feel like a real treat.

Otherwise, a nice book on a subject she's interested in.

As a middle aged woman, I absolutely do not get the love for scented candles on here at all. I'm totally indifferent to them.

JaceLancs · 10/12/2022 22:14

Book or puzzle magazine
I love a jigsaw
cashmere socks - gloves tkmaxx plenty of choice under £20
