Do you wrap stocking gifts?

I’m looking at all the things I have to wrap and wondering if I can not wrap the stocking gifts because the stocking itself is like wrapping?

My mum always wrapped everything for us but my eldest is only 2 so it’s the first year we’re doing a stocking and I’m thinking I could save myself a job.

would it be grinchy to not wrap them? Obviously I’ll wrap anything that doesn’t go in the stocking

I wrap everything but I try to wrap as I buy so it's less painful. I use tissue paper for small bits and pieces as it's a bit quicker.

SpacePotato · 08/12/2022 19:19

I do as they like unwrapping the mini surprises.

I just use up the scraps of paper left from wrapping the big presents.

BusySittingDown · 08/12/2022 19:21

Yes, I do. But only because DH made me the first year and now I have to carry on because the DDs like it. Their presents are wrapped in the stocking in their own patterns of paper so they know which pile of presents is theirs when they get downstairs.

My mum never wrapped stocking presents. I found that really exciting!

Riverlee · 08/12/2022 19:21

Yes, always

KitchiHuritAngeni · 08/12/2022 19:22

I wrap some and not others, things like selection boxes and sweets don't get wrapped, little toys and colouring stuff etc do get wrapped until I cant be arsed wrapping any more

WeirdPookah · 08/12/2022 19:23

Most of them yes, all presents from Father Christmas come in different paper, all brown paper based wrapping, so it looks different from gifts from us.

I don't wrap the pack of lindor/kinder shapes sticking out the top, it looks good like that.

Sneakyblinders · 08/12/2022 19:24

I wrap everything except cuddly toy and chocolate coins

AdelineLou · 08/12/2022 19:25

No, never. That's the beauty of a stocking, that it is the wrapping.

MsChatterbox · 08/12/2022 19:26

Yes. I wrap main presents firsts and save all the little cut offs of paper for the stocking. I love how crinkly the stocking is when it's all wrapped 😍

MammaWeasel · 08/12/2022 19:27

If you really can't be arsed, and I wouldn't blame you, I think you'll get away with it this year as your little one is so young. Don't sweat the small stuff this year. Xxx

RagzRebooted · 08/12/2022 19:28

Always. If it isn't wrapped it doesn't make a rustly present noise. Also the joy of unwrapping (and it lasts longer).
I have 3 DCs and yes it is a pain (PP suggestion of tissue paper is a good one) but it is absolutely worth it.

I got a tip - maybe from here years ago - you can buy packs of festive looking paper bags in different sizes. You can pop little presents in and just fold over the opening. So easy!

RedToothBrush · 08/12/2022 19:31

One of the points of the stocking is to buy you as much time on Christmas Day as possible!

Slow them down!!!

99problemsandaballisone · 08/12/2022 19:31

Oh but sorry I found a seller who sold a variety of sizes (like in the pic). That listing is just one size.

GettingStuffed · 08/12/2022 19:31

Yes, but luckily we only have one "child" left at home, the others are married so theirs is real with by their spouses.DH gets stocking type presents which are wrapped.

LegoLady95 · 08/12/2022 19:33

I do wrap them, but purposely slapdash so they are easy and quick to wrap and open!

I don't wrap for my son with learning disabilities, he just doesn't understand unwrapping gifts at all so I don't wrap anything for him.

FawnFrenchieMum · 08/12/2022 19:34

Yes I always have because that 10 mins of unwrapping the stocking gifts on our bed gave us time to come round and open our eyes when the kids had woken at some ungodly hour to see if Santa had been!

BettyOBarley · 08/12/2022 19:34

Yes I always wrap.
Kids love unwrapping don't they, and it buys me an extra few mins in bed to wake up while they open it all 🤣

PermanentTemporary · 08/12/2022 19:36

Yes I do. I use the left over paper from last year. It's also very far from classy wrapping - Santa wraps much more messily than me 😄

SingaporeSlinky · 08/12/2022 19:37

I wrap stocking stuff in either red tissue paper (that I stock up on in January sales) or red and white striped paper bags I bought in bulk from eBay years ago. Both are then very different to presents under the tree from us and other family members, in normal wrapping paper. I’ve heard too many stories where kids have noticed the stocking wrap from Santa is the same as the parents wrap, so I make sure it’s very different.

SheWoreYellow · 08/12/2022 19:37

Don’t wrap ours and never heard of it until here.

Oysterbabe · 08/12/2022 19:42

Yes I do. As a pp said, it slows them down.

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 08/12/2022 19:43

Yes! It’s the most exciting part as a child imo

Mommabear20 · 08/12/2022 19:43

Ours were always wrapped as a kid and will do the same for my DC. Me and my siblings would always be up well before my parents would let us actually get up, and sitting all in one bed trying to guess what was in our stockings is one of my favourite Christmas memories!
