Thinking I'm going to make grandparent in law an edible hamper. If you were a 90 year old having a food hamper what would you want in it. I usually spend £20-30

Potted beef, potted Stilton, jam, lemon curd, crackers, chutney, biscuits, part baked baguettes, Camembert or Brie, festive pork pie.

Add Mince pies, Marzipan fruits and possibly Turkish delight

Scottishfood.co.uk will let you assemble your own hamper from a large choice of items in various categories, or choose a ready made one. You can keep the cost down by having more of the cheap options like Tunnocks teacakes, haggis flavour crisps, shortbread etc and less of the smoked venison, whisky and salmon.

-fruit jelly sweets like these www.wilko.com/bonds-fruit-jellies-175g/p/0499895?gclid=CjwKCAiAhKycBhAQEiwAgf19elOEkCeVXZ8dxobTzvFCUnyyvRAAuJUl8EFoAp4ghvteQ3rnc6frKBoCxwkQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

  • Glace marron
  • Bottle of port/sherry/wine if they drink#

You could also add in a few non-food items if you wanted too like a wheat bag, warm scarf or slippers

Or add in 'vouchers'. Spending a day shopping together, spending a day driving to the seaside, spending time cooking you a meal nan etc. TIME spent with relatives was the 1 thing my nan craved and enjoyed at that age.

I’ve just ordered a couple from Lottie Shaws, it’s a Yorkshire based bakery they have ginger biscuits and parkin cake and flapjacks! Perfect! A client at work got some for us - and they were delicious

OP, you could also include a small selection of childhood sweets from the 1930s...good old nostalgia.

I've just done the same for a dear family friend, 88, in her hamper.
(I compiled a list below for anyone wanting to know what was available then)

Barley Sugars
Butterscotch Boiled Sweets
Mint Imperials
Cadbury Dairy Milk
Aniseed Balls
Dolly Mixtures
Coconut Ice Bar
Fruit Pastilles
Fry's Peppermint Cream
Raspberry Ruffles
Pontefract Cakes
Small Pear Drops
Stick of Edinburgh Rock
Sugared Almonds
Fudge, cinder toffee etc. etc.
