What are they into?

Only joking 😂

Just read a thread about personalised baubles, could be an idea.

Clothes, they grow like anything at those ages. But nothing crazy unless the parents are open minded.

Nice books for the parents to keep.

Toys like stacking rings, shape sorter.

Or just ask the parents, there may be things they have in mind and be grateful to give you ideas.

I highly recommend the Happyland Christmas set. DS had this for his first Christmas and he still plays with them aged 4. They’re a nice chunky size for little hands and fit in with the other Happyland sets if you add to the collection as they get bigger.

The ‘That’s not my…’ books are always a winner and they do Christmas themed ones.

A Bumble Ball is also a great gift, it’s a sensory ball that wobbles and shakes. DS thought his was hysterical as a baby.

Books, definitely.
Wooden blocks
New bedding
Money box
Swimming towel

6 months
Sensory scarves/ shakers/ light up flashy things were my DD’s favourite at that age, so some sensory balls like these maybe?

Books - ‘The That’s not my …’ are good for little ones, or the ‘Where’s Mr …’ ones with the felt flaps like these

Stacking cups or rings

Soft building blocks

Bath toys - There’s a light up whale one that sprays water which is quite cool Here

18 months

A lot of the above would still work actually

Or
Jigsaw puzzles - the wooden ones with peg pieces, or the 2 piece matching ones
Bath crayons
Reusable sticker books (my Dd is mad for these at the moment)
These little sets are lovely

For both ages clothes like pjs etc always come in handy, or a nice hat and mittens set for example.

My dd loved bloopie dolls for bath time, suitable from 18 months

Brio wooden trains. 18 months is a brilliant age for them.

Thank you SO much everyone... it's really not easy when you don't have kids!

Much appreciated.

My nephew is 5 months and just started weaning. I've bought him a gorgeous personalised bamboo plate and bowl set from Etsy. It's super cute and lovely quality...
Bamboo plate

For the 18 month old, maybe a push along/pull along toy. My DC used to love the ones on a stick...a bit like this one.

Or maybe just an outfit and books each?

pinkksugarmouse · 01/12/2022 00:10

Books
Bath toys
Duplo for the 18mth old and then pass it down
Stacking towers
Simple puzzles

Don’t spend a lot. Enjoy the time when Christmas will be pretty inexpensive. Plus having too much to open can stress toddlers out. They want to just play with what they have opened.

pinkksugarmouse · 01/12/2022 00:12

Ah I see that they aren’t your DC’s but still don’t buy loads. They won’t enjoy a conveyor belt of boxes.

My daughter was 6 months last year, he main gift was an activity table with a magnadoodle, she still loves it. She also got the Gund Kissy Penguin and has just been playing with it now (she got the Clappy Monkey for her birthday and loves that too).

This year at 18 months shes getting a rocking horse, pik and pop, doll and pushchair etc...
