Best (supermarket) food for an Elf-ternoon tea?

This year as Dec 1st falls on a week day I am planning on doing a party tea after school for the elf's arrival instead of a North Pole breakfast. I have very limited time to dash to the supermarket on my lunch tomorrow, what would you recommend for an elf-themed tea party? I have Elf plates and paper cups but Im stuck when it comes to what food to serve so any ideas appreciated.

Full disclosure- the DCs are having a really tough time but will absolutely loove this, (as am I hence my inability to think about that to serve for a simple tea party). So any snarky elf-haters can bore off please because I am too fragile at the moment for nasty comments.

What colour clothes is your elf wearing? Maybe try and get food which is the same colour.

Magic dust sprinkled on the table.

Can you cut sandwiches into tiny triangles so they are "elf-sized"?

You can also get mini mince pies in most of the supermarkets

Can you make tiny food?
Chocolate raisins in a bowl with the elf sitting on them?
Maybe try Pinterest for some inspiration.

Hot chocolates with marshmallows, cream and candy canes.

Mini gingerbread men

Reindeer noses (carrots)

Popcorn with green and red skittles or similar in

Jumbo marshmallows you can draw a face on with icing pens (make an Oreo hat if you've time)

Fairy bread (basically sprinkles on white bread ) - vv nutritious!

Guacamole on toast in triangles for elf hats

Today I was out shopping with a neighbour and she picked up a pack of mini jammy dodgers in Tesco, I had never seen them before. I thought they were so cute. I have seen mini choc chip cookies before.

I love this idea! I've never done a North Pole meal, breakfast or otherwise, so this might be waaaay off, but some ideas for Christmassy afternoon tea/snacks elves might enjoy...

  • Finger sandwiches - afternoon tea classic AND mini food suitable for little elves. Could just cut up supermarket sandwiches if don't want to make fresh
  • Grape Christmas trees - basically just half a bunch of green grapes, and place cut side down on a plate/board in a triangle (tree!) shape. Could use half a flake as the stump, and have a bowl of smarties on the side for DCs to 'decorate' their trees with
  • Those festive mini cheddar things in the shape of christmas trees
  • I like previous poster's idea of matching food to whatever colour your elf is wearing - could you put a drop of matching food colouring into a clear drink (lemonade maybe?) and call it elf fizz, or something more imaginative...!

Anything red and white (strawberries, red sweets, jam sandwiches)
Candy canes (essential!)
Mini gingerbread men/shapes
Chocolate coins
Tree shaped crumpets (or cut star etc shaped mini sandwiches)
Christmas themed fondant fancies/mini cupcakes/whatever Mr Kipling is doing this year!
Christmas napkins and crackers

We used to do North Pole tea instead of breakfast some years, depending on schedules etc. My kids are in their 20s now, but still remember them very fondly. Little moments of magic!
Enjoy 😊
(DD20 is planning to surprise her uni house mates with a North Pole breakfast on Thursday!)
