Very pay and Nintendo switch

Hi all,

I am looking to buy a Nintendo switch on Black Friday for a Christmas present. I can see that the cheapest way to purchase one would be to buy it through very pay, as you get 20% off.

But I have the money put to one side and I also want to pay for it outright.

Has anyone used very pay before? Can you purchase it, get the discount but pay for it in full? Can you then cancel the credit agreement?

thanks

Yes you can. I used the very pay for the offer and then just paid off in full once received. I still have the account as they often send offers for account holders, similar to a credit card order and just pay in full once received and happy

That’s great - thank you!

i understand that you kept the account but if I then wanted to delete it, could I?

It used to be that catalogues were one of the most expensive ways of buying things but were only available options to those who couldn't afford outright. Now catalogues are often the cheapest, AND you can get promo codes to lower it further.
I reckon they lost the market when credit became more easily attainable to all. They have to be competitively priced now and hope that those customers are bad payers who take years to pay down the debt by making the minimum payment each month. Late fees also make them the money.

I'll often buy from Very and select a buy now pay later option, then I pay it all up in one or two payments instead of using the whole 12 months.

@Itsboundtohappen yes of course, you just call them up and close it

MugginsOverEre · 25/11/2022 11:01

@Itsboundtohappen I'm sure you can close accounts but having a credit account in use is actually very good for your credit score. I've improved my credit score by 30+ simply by buying something cheap and paying it back regularly, never missing payments. It's stupid because I have the cash but want to improve my rating.

Yes, I did exactly that a few years ago. I think I also got more off because it was my first purchase. You can then close the account.

Check the ones that come with a game bundle, they're usually a good deal.

I got this Very deal a week ago and have just paid the £200 off in full on the credit account. Great way to save about £70! Go for it

I used a very a couple of times like this to buy a mobile phone. Paid off in two instalments rather than one.

the discounts on phones is never that great anywhere, but it made it a little bit cheaper and I split the payment between two paydays.

I didn’t close my account, but they closed it after 12 months of no activity.

I did the same last Christmas! Brought a switch for my daughter. Go for it.
