Adult Brother Gift Ideas

Please help me!! I always struggle for my brothers gifts, other than computing he has very little interests (he’s studying & working so doesn’t have much time either, his area is physics). He doesn’t drink.
Whenever asked what he wants he says nothing - he’s always been low maintenance.

Problem is that I’m tired of buying random jumpers and toiletries. I’d love to get him something that he would enjoy or find useful (but less boring). Budget is approx £100

Velvetiser

BIL has everything he needs but is divorced so is frequently on his own in the evenings so we give him a hamper in a gift bag: olives, biscuits for cheese, salsa, tortilla chips, smoked almonds, chutney or other sauces.

Useful - how about a fancy adjustable LED desk light with different tones/ brightness. They often come with wireless phone chargers.

Treat - wine/beer/cheese/chocolate subscription.

Or the gift of the season- an Oodie

Sorry I should have said, he regularly diets (or rather, lifestyle choice which also includes fitness at home) so anything loaded with sugar won’t be an option.

I have actually bought the velvetiser for my son.

The little hamper may work if I can get the right products to align with what he’s currently “allowed” to eat

Is he into puzzles and brain teasers? A Rubik's cube set? They do loads of different shapes now. Puzzle book?

A donation to an education charity. Genuinely, we have someone like this in my family and buy them science and mathematics lessons for girls in the developing world. It makes them happy.

If there is nothing he especially wants I wouldn't spend 100 quid on a "I hope he likes this gift".
Spend a tenner.

Sunrise alarm clock, I absolutely love my Lumie despite being initially sceptical and have converted my similar sounding brother.

Other things I have bought him that he actually liked, some are very dull (a bit like him!):
Starwars Lego
Fancy technical Lego
Ember Mug
Stojo
Cordless Electric Screwdriver set
Heated Gloves (good quality)
Car power bank/jump starter thingy
Dash Cam
Tile/Apple Air Tags
Private Eye Subscription
New Scientist Subscription
Malcolm Gladwell Books

He helpfully tells me when he doesn't like gifts, so I'm very aware of my failed attempts.

Cinema vouchers
Really good quality frying pan/kitchen knives etc
Cookery book that aligns with dietary requirements (or a science-y cookery book like The Food Lab)
Magazine subscription (or book subscription, coffee subscription)
An experience voucher ( recently got my brother a coffee tasting voucher from a local indie coffee shop)

Have got mine a bottle of aftershave that he likes and uses - was on sale with 35% off. And a Liverpool mug - "Mr Liverpool" as he is an armchair supporter. Also some heatholder socks. And a choc orange!
Other years he has had computer games, rum etc.
As yours likes his computer, does he need any head phones/ accessories. Would be a good week to get something in black Friday offers. Might need to get him to specify though as he may be very particular!
Or maybe a heated gilet?

Topbird29 · 22/11/2022 08:18

Soup maker? Air fryer (within budget)?

This sounds a bit odd, but I bought my bro a painting by an artist with autism. He has ADHD and my son has downs syndrome so we're all quite aware that everyone is different etc etc, so this was quite meaningful. (And it made his bare blokey flat look much nicer!)
