What surprised you and brought them some joy? Brazenly asking for my own kids!
They are 7 months 3 and six

I get a few bits second hand and then new bits but we don't go wild

Just looking for some ideas really thank you

Mouse in a matchbox. Was only a few £ from eBay and dd (she was 2.5 last Xmas) has played with it every day - she even brought it on holiday!

KeeefBurtain · 20/11/2022 18:01

*etsy not ebay

Westendbuoys · 20/11/2022 18:02

A torch. Just a regular cheap torch from the supermarket. Hours of enjoyment. I brought him another one for his birthday, he was delighted.

Do you have a link to that please. I’m sure one of my grandchildren would love it.

stopbeeping DS once wrote in his news book at school that he got Sellotape for Christmas, ignoring things like Lego and Playmobil.

DD was overjoyed with her very own PostIts and a pack of assorted elastic bands one year.

My best-ever present as a child was a hole punch. It was from Boots, in the long ago days when they had their own stationery range. I still have it over 50 years later and use it several times a week.

My family clearly have a office supplies obsession.

They don’t have the exact one any more but it was very similar to this:

I’m an infant teacher. A Y1 child had his birthday. I asked him what was his favourite present. “Daddy got me a whole pack of blue tac.” When I mentioned it to his parents, it turned out that Daddy had put up a birthday banner with blue tack, and he’d stripped off the blue tac Grin.

Thing is, all his friends were jealous of the blue tac. So I’d recommend blue tac for your 6 year old.

@Matildatoldsuchdreadfullies

my 10 year old still loves to make dinosaurs and other creatures with Blu Tac. He calls them his Blu tac creations 😁

Fridge magnets, a whoppee cushion, a magnifying glass,

MammaWeasel · 20/11/2022 19:12

A beach ball, a ball of string and a rolling kitchen foil (minus the sharp edged box)

timtam23 · 20/11/2022 19:16

A whoopee cushion that looked like a Brussels sprout. Hours of fun. It was from Tesco in their stocking filler section

Santagiveyoursackawash · 20/11/2022 19:57

The hook a poo bath game.

BangingOn · 20/11/2022 20:25

A tape measure and a police helmet blew DS’s mind age 3.

DutchTeenyPixie · 20/11/2022 20:29

A net of bouncy balls from a poundshop in his stocking

That sounds fabulous. I’ve been planning on doing them same thing this year for a granddaughter who wants a ‘vets set’

Love this idea. I had no idea stethoscopes are as cheap as they are - just looked and about £3 on ebay

TweeBee · 20/11/2022 20:39

I can't stand Blu Tak, just ends up stuck to the carpet here!
My two are older but have loved those little diaries that are about 99p, possibly called handbag size. DD makes appointments to do nails in hers!
Also tape measures, calculators, bath bombs.

Tiredalwaystired · 20/11/2022 20:43

A game called Tiny Skeleton Hands. Five quid stocking filler and the biggest hit of Christmas by far.

Lemonademoney · 20/11/2022 20:43

Love threads like this. Over the years it’s been Blu Tack, sticky notes, mini pens or stacking pens/crayons. This year I’ve bought some bath confetti as last year they had some colour change crackle bath which went down well. Tiger do these balloon animals for a couple of quid that are made of a thicker rubber, they are a bit weird but mine love them so might buy them again. Oh and I’ve ordered some plastic ball shooters from Amazon after watching the kids go crazy for them at a party

Dc1 is 8 but last year and the year before loved his pack of Bic Biro’s. He is stationary mad but not fancy stuff and is forever borrowing mine. He has his eye on one another of my specific pens, hopes Santa brings him one 😁. Dd7 loved her reading light. Plasters have also been hits they love playing vets or doctors. I get novelty or cartoon ones. Space blanket was a hit in 12m olds stocking a few years back. Proper stethoscope in their favourite colour still gets played with a few years later.

AdventuringAway · 20/11/2022 21:17

Fab thread! I’m confident that a large pack of masking tape for DS4 will go down well.

Santagiveyoursackawash · 20/11/2022 21:30

Sellotape snail!
Tape measure for kids.

Rupertgrintismyguiltypleasure · 20/11/2022 23:02

DS was so happy with his 850g of dairy milk, he couldn’t stop talking about it. We got him one for his birthday 11 days later and have also brought him one this year for Christmas.
dd loved her chopsticks. She loves using them so I decided to her patterned ones and she absolutley loved them.

sunglassesonthetable · 20/11/2022 23:13

A can of shaving foam.

Mine would always have this in their stockings. Hours of fun with it in the bath.

Franticbutterfly · 20/11/2022 23:24

A gyro flow (search in google), they are about £4.

Dinoteeth · 20/11/2022 23:43

Curious question why blu-tac rather than plasticine?

AaBbC · 20/11/2022 23:50

My 6 year old loved ...

A mini whiteboard & pen
Sticky post it notes
Coloured gel pens
A clip board

Think it came to about £5 lol
