Ideas for young autistic man?

I'm stumped this year on a gift for a male relative, he is early 20s, autistic and lives at home. Interests are video games/tech, planes & not much else.
Likes chocolate but not smellies. Not interested in building stuff so no Lego. Has a console that is online so no physical games. Lives at home with his parents so limited space. Wouldn't really appreciate a voucher or day out so would like something physical to unwrap (might go for small gift with related voucher).
Previous gifts have been games for his old console (hit), photo gift (miss), ear buds (hit), game-related stuff for his room (mixed reactions), giant bar of chocolate (hit).
Any ideas? Budget around £30 or so but flexible and could be 1 or multiple gifts.

Steam voucher and nig bar if chocolate?

Elmer83 · 19/11/2022 23:59

First of all, it’s lovely you care so much ❤️ If he’s into gaming what about a led light? You can get branded ones like an XBox or PlayStation night light. Secondly, maybe a gaming voucher? I know how hard it is to please someone why autism: my son has asd, and he’s so hard to buy for, will also tell me if the gift is a fail! 😂😂

Or if he likes chocolate, a Chocolate bouquet?! Like a bunch of flowers but instead of flowers, chocolate bars!

CherrySocks · 20/11/2022 00:02

Wouldn't his parents give you some suggestions?

ClownSchool · 20/11/2022 00:02

Does he wear headphones when gaming? If so, maybe new headphones or a headphone stand for his existing ones.

Abcdefu · 20/11/2022 00:03

An adult remote control car? My gadget loving 40 year old brother loved it

Itisbetter · 20/11/2022 00:04

A projector

ClownSchool · 20/11/2022 00:04

New controller for his console? Maybe in the theme of a favourite game.

ClownSchool · 20/11/2022 00:08

How good is he with tech other than the gaming side? Can he do any coding? Would a raspberry pi starter kit be any good?

FurryDandelionSeekingMissile · 20/11/2022 00:10

Don't overthink it. A voucher for whatever store he access with this game console, and/or more chocolate. It's a bit boring and maybe not so rewarding for you, but it's more likely to be something he enjoys. If he's only interested in his specific hobbies then stuff outside that area isn't usually wanted, while specific stuff for the hobby is likely to be the wrong thing or a duplicate unless specifically asked for.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 20/11/2022 00:43

I agree with @FurryDandelionSeekingMissile

If he likes chocolate, do you think he might like something like a yard of Oreos? Or similar - the size is quite a novelty .

My nephew absolutely loved an X box mug that changes colour when hot liquid added in.

Would he appreciate clothes? A t-Shirt, jumper or lounge pants?

Zoflorabore · 20/11/2022 00:46

A mini fridge for his room. My ds is 19 and autistic and he's really hard to buy for. This was a hit. Can get one for your budget.

snugglyblanket · 20/11/2022 00:47

Thanks for your responses, some good ideas. Chocolate & a voucher is my back up plan. There will definitely be chocolate of some description as I know that's always well received.

@CherrySocks I have but they struggle to think of ideas for themselves. Even he doesn't know what he wants, I've asked him if he has any ideas. If he wanted something specific then I'd happily buy that.

Well in my experience gamers love to wrap themselves in a soft fleecy blanket (think like a cowboy!!) Or a soft oodie.
Primark have the softest, velvety ones for £20. Gloriously sensory and surprisingly very good quality.
Add in a big bar of chocolate/small neon light/pokemon plushie/insulated coffee cup and jobs a good un.

SoapMactavish · 20/11/2022 00:58

Vouchers for Xbox live or Steam.

The budget probably won't stretch far enough for controller or headset TBH.

Legselevens · 20/11/2022 01:22

Not sure of your budget, has he already got a virtual headset?

hiredandsqueak · 20/11/2022 14:04

I have a twenties autistic son. He finds surprises difficult so he gives us a list and we stick rigidly to the list. Amongst his requests outside the PS5 games is a request for big bar of Dairy Milk and a Steam giftcard so I think your idea for chocolate and giftcard is probably a winner.

Totorosfluffytummy · 20/11/2022 15:42

Hooded dressing gown?

BuryingAcorns · 20/11/2022 16:15

I agree with PP that he might like something to wear that has the right sensory texture. A really soft bamboo tee-shirt or fleece hoodie could be great. Might sound boringbut bamboo socks. Sensory issues with socks can be pretty hard for autistic people - bamboo ones are a real hit.

vickibee · 20/11/2022 16:18

A PS or Xbox gift card so he buy a new game ?

LynetteScavo · 20/11/2022 16:39

A strip of LED lights for his room?
