I’ve got a team of men that I want to buy a Christmas gift for, with a nudge of around £5 each. They’re all aged over 60.

Before I resort to buying a box of biscuits anyone got better ideas?

Only thing not allowed is alcohol.

Funny socks or Christmas ties?

girlmom21 · 19/11/2022 07:59

Or a Christmas pudding. One of those little ones with a pot of brandy sauce.

Watching with interest. I was just planning on doing a tub of celebrations etc as everyone likes as least some of the chocolates in front of the Christmas TV, but I’m sure there’s better ideas (I just haven’t got any, sorry!)

i did think socks and then thought that’s probably all their families will get them 😀

they are very casual (think builders) men so unfortunately not ties or cufflinks

christmas Pudding / cake good shout

I think you can get those small ices Christmas cakes actually can't you in supermarkets for a couple of quid

I think something edible is usually a good shout for a token gift. A big selection box might be a bit of a fun novelty at their age, and they can share it with others easily.

Thank you all, it gave me the inspiration I needed - just had a look at Asda,

they have a mini panettone for £1.50, large galaxy selection box for £1.50 and a Father Christmas tin full of cookies £3!

Great selection they’ll eat it or someone in their families will for £6.

Cheese and crackers and maybe a mini pot of nice chutney might work

Frumpypigskin · 19/11/2022 12:01

Last year Waitrose did an offer on the mini panettone and pandoros. I think it was buy one get one free, so I bought 8 as presents for teachers. I think they ended up being about £2.50 each. There might be similar offers on soon?

I've bought each of my team (5 of them 1 woman 4 men varying in age) a cup with their first initial on (£3.99 each on eBay) and I'm putting Christmas sweets and treats in small bags with a sachet of hot chocolate or similar in the cup, in a gift bag with a little card 😊 I just need to buy the sweets/treats and I can put them together!

I do a tub of Heroes each. Not the most exciting, but between them there are people who are tee-total, some who don't like dried fruit so Christmas puddings or panettone is out, some are fussy food wise in general, we have a uniform so ties ect are out.
I figure Heroes aren't the most exciting, but I've never had anyone say they won't eat any of them, so I figure that's better than the other ideas I've thought of.
