I'm at a bit of a loss, we have two boys, 4yo (with a hearing loss) and 8yo. Me and DH and potentially one set of grandparents.

Is there anything we could all do? I'm struggling.

Thanks

We played the "present game" for a few years. Wrap a selection of cheap gifts (some funny/ v low cost like air fresher , spatula, loo roll, some cheeky like a £5 in a matchbox ) and roll a dice. You get a 6 you can choose a gift from the sack (all wrapped). This carries on until all gifts given out and usually everyone gets one. Then once you have the gifts you keep rolling and the numbers mean different things eg 3 is swap to the left, 4, swap to the right, 6 unwrap and then it gets competitive - if you Google you'll get clearer instructions but it's been ok. It's stale now though so I'll watch with interest for a new idea!!

Orchard Toys "What a Performance" is a good family game but you may have to adapt it a bit for your 4 year old as some of the challenges involve e.g. listening to a song being hummed and trying to guess the song. Also younger children likely to need help with reading the things on the cards. When my DCs were younger we skipped the tasks which were more tricky for them and picked a question they could have a go at. They still pick it out to play now, years later

There are Christmas bingo cards online you can print off.

You could do a scavenger hunt in pairs. It can be round the house or outside.

How agile are the grandparents? We also play one where you put 2 dining chairs facing each other and tied to each other with a ribbon. Everyone takes turns at standing on one of the chairs and dropping a candy cane so it catches on the ribbon.

Guess the Christmas song - just make sure you play them lots around the DC in December

Dobble is another one that my younger one started playing at nursery so he would have been around 4. He loved it so much that we bought it for home. We still all play it now, it's a good family game with several variations suggested in the instructions
