Apologies if this has already been done. We have 2 DD (very much adults) 2 DSIL. They do really have everything they need so I was thinking of spending £10 on each but splurge on their children (19,16 11 and 9), DH and I really don't need anything but £10 gift would be nice. Don't want to go to the shops so would prefer online. Any good websites or suggestions would be great. The SIL's are both in their 40's and other early 50's.

I would go for a bottle of wine, or a box of chocolates. A bit boring, but would hopefully be used.
If they cook, maybe a recipe book? Potentially less than £10 on Amazon, or cheap book sites. Or, indeed, any sort of book that they would like!
A big jigsaw.
Couple of Lush bath bombs. Their smallest gift box used to be £10, but not sure if that is still the case.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 17/11/2022 19:28

Small edibles. This year for adult siblings - none of whom want any more ‘stuff’ - I’ve bought dark chocolate ‘orangettes’ - (candied orange peel in dark choc) dark choc ginger, and pates de fruits - all under a tenner each from Waitrose.

MarmiteCoriander · 17/11/2022 20:06

Depending on hobbies/interests:

  • gardening gloves
  • secateurs
  • bottle of bubbly
  • a few edibles- bacon jam, crackers and a nice cheese
  • scarf
  • If they travel- nice travel labels for luggage

I'm a grown up DD and a DIL and I would very much appreciate a plant of some kind in a little pot. Marks and Spencer do lovely little plants in nice pots for around that price.

Or a bog standard pair of gold sleeper earrings or fake pearl studs. Because I always lose them.

Or a very good bar of very dark chocolate.

Or a half bottle of champagne just for me.

declutteringmymind · 17/11/2022 20:16

Tk maxx online might something nice. They have lovely stationary, bamboo socks, jewellery, bubbles, books, trinkets etc. all good quality for the price. I got a cashmere microwaveable eye mask for £12.99 last week.

@destiEos thanks! Perhaps I should give it to DH 😁

I have an adult DD and she's happy with books, and more books, interspersed with chocolate and fluffy socks.

Turtledoves (cashmere wrist warmers) have a seconds shop on Ebay. I've bought 3 pairs for £7.50 each and they're all perfect.

CakeCrumbs44 · 18/11/2022 06:41

I guess it depends what their interests are really. If it's your own kids and siblings then you could do better than a token bottle of wine and get them something more personal.
Might they be interested in:
Cookery book
Something crafty - hobbycraft have a 50% sale on
A plant or nice thing for the house - vase, photo frame
Useful kitchen item such as nice cake tins, serving dishes, jug
Calendar
Diary and nice pen to write in it
Ask them if there's a book they would like
Magazine subscription (I got 6 months of runners world for £9.99)

I like this list too.

I am late 40s and would probably like a book, chocolates or wine.
Obviously I don't know your family but I have tons of recipe books so would not welcome another unless specifically mentioned. The go-to gifts for middle aged woman of candles and toiletries are not something I would buy either.

caringcarer · 18/11/2022 07:41

A nice photo frame
Hand cream
Good wine
Belgian chocolates
Bulbs to plant in garden eg daffodils/tulips
Gardening gloves

jocktamsonsbairn · 18/11/2022 08:27

What about a This Works sleep kit? I got a sleep spray last year and love it! Could pop in some wee chocolates and a mini can of cocktail
Or mini prosecco? 30% off so down to £7 with free P&P

The Works sell online.
3 paperbacks for £6
Some books 2 for £10
Jigsaws
Board games
Crafts
Etc.

lightisnotwhite · 18/11/2022 09:05

Really nice versions of things they use but wouldn’t normally buy.
So yes to chocolate, coffee, olive oil, little treats, hot chocolate etc, wine.

Wrap beautifully. Everyone likes a fancy box.

I’d make it a joint gift. Although normally I do cinema vouchers ( we have a independent) or membership of an attraction they like.

FridayNightIsWineNight · 18/11/2022 11:22

Me and my family do this.
I've asked for things like the following
Plants, a fleece blanket, Woolly hat, nice socks.
Edibles, chocolates, cheeses, wine, processco, Baileys, hot chocolate set
Toiletries - nice versions of hand cream, shower gel, bubble bath, everyday/work perfumes.

neighboursmustliveon · 18/11/2022 12:21

I bought a travel wine cooler bag that came with glasses and bottle opener and space for one bottle of wine (added a bottle for the gift), it went down really well with my walking obsessed DB & SIL. I didn't hear anything from SIL & BIL who I also bought it for so not sure if they liked it. Got it on Amazon and think it was about £7.50 maybe.

I miss getting smelly sets or nice shampoo. I really want some more expensive shampoo that I wouldn't buy myself. Same with face cream. I know it doesn't look much but I prefer that sort of gift now I'm older.
