Christmas morning with no kids

My partner and I don't have our children on Christmas morning this year as they are with their other parent. We will have both of them Boxing Day (both young) so will celebrate Christmas again with them on that day. We are heading to my partners fathers for Christmas dinner but not until around 2pm, so in light of that, what could we do to make Christmas morning special without the children?

We don't have kids and usually on our own, usually have a lie in, breakfast in bed and (I know this is weird) go for a run together!

Fivemoreminutes1 · 14/11/2022 14:24

Boozy brunch in bed and a walk.

Whowhatwherewhenwhynow · 14/11/2022 14:25

A special boozy breakfast. Exchange gifts. A walk across some fields and then a classic Christmas film such as what a wonderful life.

PumpkinSpicedTea · 14/11/2022 14:25

Enjoy some time just the two of you and have a lazy morning morning with a nice breakfast you wouldn't normally have or able to enjoy slowly with having kids!

curvymumma79 · 14/11/2022 14:25

Hot chocolate and croissants in bed x

Always4Brenner · 14/11/2022 14:26

I’ll do smoked salmon and scrambled eggs no booze don’t drink.

We had Xmas 2020 without our young adult daughter as she was stuck elsewhere because of covid. It was a nice day so DH and I made a picnic and went for a walk. There were a lot of other people out doing likewise, all cheerily wishing each other a happy Xmas.

Eat, drink, and shag all day surely!?

Eat, drink, and shag all day surely!?

Can even dress up as mrs Claus to make it special 😂

Breakfast in bed opening presents and watching Xmas TV, lots of bucks fizz and sex?? Sounds great!

ImHavingAnOldFriendForDinner · 14/11/2022 14:50

Sex, breakfast, presents, sex, shower, nice walk!

NatMoz · 14/11/2022 14:58

You could run a Christmas day parkrun?

I'm hosting and have guests coming at 12 but will be doing a run while husband looks after the baby! (All food prepped on Christmas Eve)

KingOfWishfulThinkin · 14/11/2022 16:46

Wow, thanks everyone! I was thinking similar - boozy breakfast in bed, gift exchange, a film, obviously Christmas sex, then head for a dog walk, but I didn't know if it might be a bit mundane though clearly it sounds like a great plan!

I love our child free Christmas morning. Lovely lazy breakfast in bed, presents, dancing around to Christmas music and drunk building lego sets or working out the new board games 😁

It is special to us simply because we don't get to just do exactly as we please normally due to conflicting work patterns. Cannot wait.

pinkksugarmouse · 14/11/2022 23:52

Definitely breakfast in bed and then have each other for brunch. 🤣

stridesy · 15/11/2022 07:38

Our area they do a Xmas swim on the beach which would be fun to watch if I wasn’t cooking and doing present.

Chasingsquirrels · 15/11/2022 08:23

It will be different, and you will probably miss them, but it doesn't have to be mundane.
You can be relaxed, indulge yourselves and just have a lovely day.
See was the first thing that came I to my mind as well.
I've done this a number of times over the years, in various states of single and relationships.

And then you'll all have a lovely Boxing Day together.

KingOfWishfulThinkin · 15/11/2022 09:01

Thanks everyone - I think because my DD is so little (3 on Thursday!) it feels so strange not having her but we'll all have a fab Christmas Day and then a big Boxing Day repeat with the girls. I'm feeling a bit more excited about it now! Plus I get to look forward to Christmas Day with both of them next year as we alternate with their other parents.

Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas!
