I’m struggling with what to buy my fiancé for Christmas, one of the few ideas l have is fudge. The only problem is he is a fudge snob! Does anyone have any recommendations please?

I'm so happy to see this thread! I adore fudge but it's almost impossible to buy and I find it very difficult, time consuming and messy to make. I'm going to go through each of these links now. It's gonna be a fudgy Christmas!

(Condensed milk or slow cooker fudge isn't the same thing at all. Real fudge is the true definition of melt-in-the-mouth)

Making your own fudge with a melt in the mouth texture is just about graining it properly before you pour it into your dish to set.

If you leave it to cool down for 5-10 minutes after taking it off the heat once you've reached the right temperature, add your vanilla essence or whatever flavouring you have chosen, then seriously beat it for 5 minutes with a wooden spoon you get a scotch tablet fudge that will just dissolve on the tongue.

If you don't do that, you get a softer, ungrained fudge which is a bit more 'chewy' & doesn't really dissolve.

I haven’t ever tried it but for a more joke present you could try the ‘earwax’ from monster supplies:

Roly's fudge is gorgeous and their gift wrapping is stunning

Another vote for Rolys, lovely. They have shops in a few places.

Thanks Smile
DH and I are going to Bath soon so a visit to their shop is on the list .

I looked up some recipes , it all seems to be in the slow cooking and dissolving then getting the right temperature to make it fudgey . So standing very near the cooker .
I'd like to try Tablet , slightly different to fudge but the ice-cream vans used to sell it in a foil cake case years ago . Tiny portion but enough .

I came on here to say Rolys but I usually make my own.if you want chewy boil to the lower end of the temperature range, crumbly the higher
